It is becoming increasingly obvious that the vast majority of the people on this forum starting playing Halo September 25, 2007, AKA the day Halo 3 was released. You have little experience with the Halo franchise and think it would be cool if Halo turned into a reskinned version of a title already on the market. Which is odd because you could simply proceed to play said game series instead.

Why would you want Halo to be class based or involve custom classes with customizable weapons that you can select at the start of the match? Have you once in your life ever played a simple match of Halo? Did you notice that mean guy who repeatedly killed you with the rockets, laser, sniper or shotgun? He had those powerful weapons because he rushed to them and took control of them. That is the point of Halo, to control a map specific set of power weapons in order to control the map. When you introduce selectable starting weapons you remove that aspect of the game, hence you are no longer playing a Halo game. No matter what the weapons and player models look like this is not a Halo game, your eyes would in fact be playing a cruel trick on you if you saw Halo related objects in a game featuring selectable starting weapons and/or classes.

Why would you want a cover system in Halo? For one the game is set to play too fast for that, you would be immediately be out maneuvered and killed and two a first person cover system would not work online. Even a game called Killzone 2 for the PS3 features a first person cover system but they disabled it for online for good reason.

What is the point of a combat knife or metallic sword? Hello this is the future. Our cyborg super soldier Spartans and their enemy fearsome enemies the Elites both feature metallic armor protected by an energy shield. This is not Lord of the Rings, Human swords became useless centuries ago.

So you want to sprint huh? Guess what a Spartan is always sprinting in game. If the movement wasn't slowed down so much for Halo 3 then even someone like you would be able to understand that.

So their you have it. All of your misguided attempts to ask for a completely generic experience are ridiculous. Had you played the previous Halo games you would have realized Halo is a great unique experience that does not need to be changed.

AMEN

I guess I was unaware of the internet community, and its citizens excommunicated to the flood.

Ive been playing Halo since halo CE and thats one of the reasons why I want things to change. I'm not talking about little things like customizable weapons, but instead, changes in the gameplay elements. I'm tired of the run and gun shooters like halo and cod and this is why I'm looking forward to games like Operation Flashpoint 2 and Splintercell instead of Reach.

People, what is the point of making a new game if it is going to be the same as the previous one...If the only reasons of making Halo Reach is to add new levels, stories and guns for the 4th time this company Bungie has begun their milking process.

If you want a class based Halo game try Killzone 2 or Resistance 2, they're not Halo but they may provide a similar experience to what you are looking for. Both have sprint.

If you want a cover based Halo game try Gears of War, I think its pretty similar to what Halo would be if it were a cover based game. Has a feature similar to sprint.

If you want a knife go lay down.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Give me a break, man. What's worse than people whining about non-Halo things they want IN Halo are the people that whine about those people saying that said things "aren't Halo."

The point of a public forum is discussion. One of the characteristics that a forum will acquire due to it being public is a large and diverse amount of people. Not just any people, but gamers. Gamers that play games. Gamers that play games other than Halo. Gamers that like to play games other than Halo, and would love to play Halo even more if it had elements of the non-Halo games put in them.

What makes COD fun? The class system and the weapons custimization. What makes Gears fun? The types of weapons, the tactics, and the cover-system. What makes Halo fun? Vehicles, weapons, simplicity.

When people make threads about what they want in Halo: Reach like you mentioned, it's merely a consequence of them seeing what is good in other games, as well as them probably wanting to conceptualize an "ubergame" in their heads. A game that has the fun of Halo, the fun of CoD, and the fun of Gears (just to name the more popular examples) all rolled into one. It's just a wishlist. They shouldn't be told to shut up, regarldless of how much Halo they've played. Your greater experience with Halo gameplay gives you nothing over them; you're simply more loyal to the core gameplay elements of Halo than they are, and that is your opinion.

And really, why do you care enough to actually make a thread about this? Are you fed-up with how the forum gets mainly these types of people? Well, if you are, you can do two things. The first option is simply leave this forum to them, but I wouldn't really advise that because it makes the forum even more one-sided than it already is. The second and better option is to spend your time coming up with topics or posts that may actually be useful to read for people that share your opinions about what Halo: Reach should be, rather than waste your time telling people who won't be quiet to shut up.

What about option 3, voice are opinions that Halo needs to stay Halo so Bungie sees the real fans and there opinion. Why would you want Call of Duty:Cyborg Warfare or Battlefield:2552 when you could have Halo?

Voilà!In view,a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity,is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

In its own right halo is a class base game . Yes everyone spawns with the same weapons yet not everyone uses the same weapon . As soon as your pick up a different weapon you have basically became a class. If you play with a team like I do, most of us pick up assigned weapons and use those more often than what we spawn with. If there is an opponent with a sniper you don't call him " a guy with the sniper " you call him " the sniper ". Whatever weapon you pick up in a match is the class you become for that match or til you die at least.

it also doesn't matter how reach will turn out cause there is one thing we can count on and that is that bungie will design the game around the three golden things of Halo weapons, grenades, and meelees that is the core of Halo the only difference between the games is how those three things are used and balanced and bungie has done a good job before

*cough*Halo CE*cough*

And yet no one has answered my question. Strange. What about those original ideas out there that still change the game but haven't been done before by another game? You people are too frightened of game evolution.

Changes are fine as long as they do not change the basic gameplay of the previous three games. It should still feel like Halo not just look like Halo.

I too have played Halo and loved it since the first game on the Xbox. I agree that adding any of those features would make it a terrible pile of crap.

True, but there are many good ideas I've seen and people are all like, "GTFO that's not Halo", even though I've been playing Halo since it's release and cannot see how that would ruin it's overall feel in any way. Look at games like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Metal Gear Solid. They all have evolved with the times, but have kept the same overall feeling.

Hopefully Bungie sees how many people don't like this stuff and keep Halo original forever

  • 07.11.2009 5:40 PM PDT

I hate Halo MP because the only thing anyone ever does is rush the power weapons or vehicles. Once the weapon is out or the vehicle is blown up they just do the SAME EXACT THING. If Halo is not changed, I can safely say I will not be play Reach for very long.

Don't jump to illogical conclusions dumb ass, he means it cannot radically change the way Halo is played.

I want Halo: Reach to be like the previous Halo games that Bungie has created. I was attracted to the Halo games because of its gameplay; I wouldn't play a mainstream (meaning coming from Bungie, spinoffs are ok) Halo game that drastically changes the core concepts.

I'm not scared of change; as long as they keep the core principles of what made Halo, Halo, I'll play the game. Equipment is an example of this-it's a change to the game, but it doesn't drastically change Halo. I don't mind change, but I like playing Halo, and no matter what, I'll always like the gameplay that Halo provides.

I think we all know that the 'askings' will not be implemented into Reach, Bungie employees know what they're doing you know.

My thought on this is just let them speculate, it isn't hurting anybody, so why not?
