This is the way the world ends,

This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

In Halo 3 you don't feel much of a conection with the marines. Seeing as there will be mutiple spartans (probably) in Halo: Reach, I think Bungie should consider putting in a lot of effort to make you think stuff like "You did not just kill my buddy!!!!!!"

Perhaps give you a reason not to just ditch you comrades. Maybe make them very helpful or make you lose if one of them dies. Your thoughts?

You can't force a connection with them, and quite rarely people take the time in gameplay to pay attention to their allies anyway. If anything would be done it should be in the cinematics. That's the most common place where people pay attention.

That could work, but with the right incentives, mainly stay with you squad or you will die, I think it could make you try to protect them. If it's. "Wow, he's going to die if i don't try to help him. If he dies, I'm going to die. But If I try to save him, I have a much better chance of survival." Then I think you might be more inclined to save them. Them being marines. The other spartans couldn't really die in game without messing up the game. But make it so your not so super powerful and need to stay with your comrades to survive. Cutscenes would be a good place to establish some sort or conection though.

Well seeing as how Halo:Reach takes place on Reach and one of the Spartans main objectives was to help military personal evac safely I could definitely see something where if a number of marines die you must restart or something along those lines. Somewhat like they did with Captain Keyes in Halo 1's mission Truth and Reconciliation.

Alien was an intense movie. The air duct scene. The steam clouding the hallways.

Yeah.

Feet first into hell!

i think itd be cool to have some dependence on the spartans. i love reading the books cause of the spartans bein all tactical and team oriented so id LOVE to actually get to do that.

I think the easiest and best option here would be to make a connection between the various Spartans. I can already feel it xD

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Yeah.

Atmosphere is essential for immersive gameplay. Look at Dead Space. Its Zombies, in Space. But it is a really good game, because the atmosphere completely sets the stage for your character.

Since Reach has oodles of significance, they should add in more atmoshpere to make it seem more important. One of the problems with the Halo 3 campaign was that you never saw the big picture, you saw little snapshots of Earth being attacked at one point and it never seemed that dire or important. They should change that with Reach.
