Me and a bunch of people from podtacular have been trying to figure out what the figure is.
You can see the figure at 0:32 of the trailer.
Here's a link of the photo and a link to our discussion

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

It's James who was sucked out of the damaged Frigate seen in the trailer. His equipment was hit by something and he ended up being shot out into space...One of the only Spartans truely MIA.

I'll be on my own side.

Even though thousands of UNSC personnel were killed in that space battle, with many ships being completely destroyed, it's absolutely 100% logical to assume that is James, right? Yeah, of course it is.

You can't just say it James for sure, just because its a body floating in space doesn't exactly prove that its him thats all you have to go on.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Well it's no doubt a nod to the book, that's what Bungie always does. Marathon is always referenced but never actually mentioned so why shouldn't it be James?

  • 07.05.2009 2:44 PM PDT

Why wouldn't it be James? No one cares about random floating marines, its not that interesting. It makes sense for it to be James, He's the only one we know that specifically gets lost in space during the Fall of Reach... I'm putting my money on it being James.

Thank you for all of your input. SOme of us at podtacular thought it was James but it is still unconfirmed by Bungie.

I think that would be James as well, it's definitely logical.

Judge the size. The figure is to big for a Spartan, forget normal humans.

Plus if you observe carefully you see three or so more figures that look the exact same. The chances of it being human is VERY VERY slim do to size and what not, however I think it could be a few fighters that have already been defeated in battle or something and are now just floating through space.

Phoenix is dead, long live Phoenix!
Is it?

I agree with the forum ninja. Out of the millions of dead people odds are against it being James... That and I would of thought that James would have flown into the atmosphere rather than being able to break orbit.
