Ok one microsoft points cannot be refunded as it states when you redeem/ buy them and In my opinion we were paying for the maps to have them early honestly they could have just not done DLC and waited to make Halo complete multiplayer experience ( the dic your talking about ) but I get what you mean when you say you were ripped off I know that's not what you said but still.

The only thing you listed that was worth money was the full game.

Edit: "Full game" sounds too vague, I meant the ODST disk alone.

As someone else on this site said, the beta isn't a gift or a favor to us, it's a favor to Bungie.

Bungie, oh Bungie, oh Bungie,
Know what would really be fun, G?
I don’t wish to nag
But remake Coag,
Or die from a purple sword-lungie.

They aren't getting the maps for free.... They have to pay for them.

Exactly what I'm saying. Why should we pay for the maps twice?

I didn't pay to have them early, because I DIDN"T KNOW THEY WERE GOING TO BE RELEASED LATER. I paid to have them.. If I knew they were going to be released later, I honestly wouldn't have bought them.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

ODST Campaign + Firefight = $30
Halo 3 Maps = $30
They're paying about as much as you had to for the maps. Suck it up, cry baby.

Lol you must be retarded or something, he has been saying that he knows the maps are included in the cost over and over, but you still posted that?

We dont get why we have to pay for the maps twice. Its that simple. So really, new buyers are not paying as much as we had to for the maps, we had to pay 30$ extra. Its not hard to understand.

Wrong! The maps that come with Halo 3 ODST add to the price of the game. If you would like to prove me wrong, then please explain how a 5-6 hour campaign and a survival mode can be worth more than $30.

Don't even try with these people. These people will buy anything that has Halo on it. They'll say "I'd buy it for $200." They actually believe that a 5-6 hour campaign is a good thing.

I tried to explain it, believe me, but they won't listen. Don't go down this road.
Yes, because all the people who support ODST are a bunch of money throwing idiot fanbois!

The 5-6 hour Campaign thing was changed. If I remember, its longer now considering we have open world gameplay this time around. Expect it to be longer than that year old statement(unless of course you're going to try and prove me wrong by rushing through on Easy).

The price is decided by MS. Not Bungie. Microsoft saw enough content for it to be considered a full game. Which is true, you get a lot of stuff. Campaign, Firefight, Extras, Reach Beta, every Halo map on 1 disc. 2 discs plus another game(reach beta) for 60 bucks. It shouldn't matter if you payed for some of those maps before, you got those early. You are not paying for them again, you're paying for Campaign, Firefight, Reach Beta and the 3 new Mythic Maps. That alone is worth my money. Is that not worth that?

I hope you are right. I really really want the campaign to be more than at least 10 hours, but we don't know that, do we? We don't know how much bigger it has grown.

Also, Why do people keep mentioning "The price is decided by MS. Not Bungie.". We all know this, it doesn't make any difference. We're not here to make the price go lower. We're here to open people's eyes! We want them to see that its being overpriced.

And according to Microsoft, you're wrong. The maps ARE part of the price: http://kotaku.com/5274549/

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

Don't complain to us. It happend already so get over it.

Yeah, guess what? You'll have to pay $60 to get all the maps. How anybody is saying these maps are free when you have to pay $60 for the whole bundle is beyond me.

Yes, I'm the guy who had the Flood admit to being furries.

But how much of the price? Not much, Most of the money is probably going to go to the new content.

Quite personally, 60 bucks for any game is overpriced. But there isn't a whole lot we can do about it. So be glad MS didn't try to pull off some BS to make it even high priced. The standard price is the best we'll get.

Also, would it be worth it if they didn't include the old maps? based on the logic and way of thinking of a lot of people, they would say yes. Strange...all based on what we have instead of focusing on the value of new content.

Alright I'll guess I'll have to reword what I said - The new maps will not be free for new buyers, but it will cost all old buyers twice as much.

Well I'm pretty sure that Halo 3 Multi and all the maps (not including Mythic 2) will account for a substantial portion of the cost. I mean the game was seen as a 35 dollars value by Bungie. That was about 3 months ago, how much more could they have added?

Very little, if anything. I'm pretty sure the game itself was practically done when Bungie said they didn't view it as a $60 dollar game, if it wasn't then they wouldn't have estimated its price. So adding new things to account for a $60 price tag would be nearly impossible, with all the story changing, dialouge changing, scenery, map making.

If I were to guess, I would say that NOTHING changed at all (because of the above stated complications) so they just added all the old maps and Halo 3 multiplayer.

So 60 - 35 = 25. The maps and Halo 3 multiplayer = $25 dollars.

That's nearly half of the whole package..

And to all those "STOP CUMPLAING" "CRAYBEBY". You obviously have A.D.D and couldn't be bothered to read most of this thread.. I suggest you go back and read it before making a dumbass out of yourself.

What? How is a video game not worth sixty dollars? You pay eight dollars for an hour and a half movie at the movie theater. So sixty dollars could potentially get you seven and a half hours of entertainment doing anything else. You will play the game easily for twenty hours it pays for itself. Although you could play with rocks for free. Sell you Xbox and do that instead, its cheaper.

I agree with you. I think they should have just left out the damn Halo 3 multiplayer disk. I'm pretty sure over 90% of people who will buy Halo 3: ODST probably have or has had Halo 3.

Somebody is new to the world of business. Have you ever seen a packaged deal or sale before? You should have, stop whining its a part of life.

I have seen packaged deals before, such as The Orange box.

However the difference between the Orange Box and ODST is astonishing. I hope you can comprehend what I'm about to show you:

The Orange Box includes:

Half life 2 (Which was Already Released): FREE
Half life 2 EP1 (Which was Already Released): FREE
Half life 2 EP 2 (NEW) : 20 bucks
Portal (NEW): 15 bucks (according to XBLAs new Portal: Still alive)
Team Fortress 2 (NEW): 20 bucks

TOTAL = 55 bucks. Just as it's retail price

ODST includes:

ODST Campaign (NEW): 20 bucks
Firefight (NEW) 20 bucks
Halo 3 Multiplayer (which was Already Released): ????
Halo 3 maps (which were already released): ????
Mythic 2 maps: 10 bucks

Total = 50. Which is not what it's retail price is.

If you were to charge Halo 3's Mutli as 20 and Halo 3 maps (old) as 20, then you would have a bargain with ODST. I'm not one to say whether or not MS should charge for them. But charging for them, when you already have them is something called exploitation.

Why are they doing this? Becuase they're a business? No. Because of retards like you and many others in this thread who will just bend down and accept it. That's why.

If you were to just admit the truth and say that ODST is NOT worth $60, then we can get a good sized group and do something about it at MS's forums.

And after all this proof. About 3 pages worth people will STILL not agree. Why not?

This pisses me off more than Halo ODST being priced 60 dollars. Why won't you agree? What's so hard about saying yes, I agree? Is it that you are to proud of yourself that you don't want to admit you were wrong to say it was worth it? Or is it because you already pre-ordered it and want to justify your spent money? I really would like to know.

I have mountains of proof/arguments that would destroy any argument for ODST's Price. What do you have? You have nothing.

  • 07.05.2009 10:38 AM PDT

I agree, but apparently people are too god d.amn stubborn on this forum to realize the whole concept behind it. I have $170 in my wallet right now, but I'm not going to pay $10 for maps that I'll get for free in a game that I already want to buy. It's a little thing called patience, I know, tough concept but some people have it.
