Halo Reach really needs maps with unique elements. For example:
-Teleporter systems on many maps
-The teleporter on Relic that must be turned on first and the Covenant sniper tower
-The slippery ice on Sidewinder
-The gates and giant fusion coils on Containment
-The conveyor belts on Elongnation
-The train on Terminal
-The doors on Gemini that opened when you got close
-The gates on High Ground, Zanzibar and Last Resort
-The wheel on Zanzibar and Last Resort
-That platform that was able to be knocked down near the wheel on Zanzibar and Last Resort
-All those lifts on Guardian
-The Elephants on Sandtrap
-Mancannons on Valhalla
The doors on Standoff
All of those things gave the map they were part of a unique feel and added a strategy to the map. Containment and Terminal were probably my favorite two maps in the Halo series. Which was probably in part due to their uniqueness. Every map should have something like that.
Besides unique map elements we need unique weapon and vehicle sets. In Halo 3 many of the weapons and vehicle weren't balanced to be used for a default map. In Halo Reach some maps should have Rockets and some the Fuel Rod Gun. Why aren't the Wraith or Scorpion in any map other than Avalanche? They should be. What ever happened to the Prowler and Hornet? Why couldn't Bungie balance them so they are usable?
Imagine how good Reach would be if every map had a completely unique feel, design and set of vehicles/weapons.
