ok, so im hoping that reach has theatre and forge, mainly because i now think that every single game that comes out should have a version of these two amazing features.

but i was thinking earlier, about machinima's and montages, and ways to improve them.

and i got an idea :)

Greenscreen/Bluescreen

now, this would mean that real, proper video editing could take place in halo, resulting in amazing movies that arent confined to the halo maps. or objects.

this could be implemented in a manner of ways.

1. simply have a few different bright green/blue objects with no textures and dont react to light, these could then be assembled to make stages and such in forge.

2. have an object like the filters in halo 3's forge that simply turns everything but the characters green, perhaps with a wireframe around objects like in sandbox that doesnt appear in theatre so you can see what your doing easier.

3. build in an option for the objects, so as well as spawn, minimum on map, team, etc. it would have green / normal. so that you could choose which objects are green or not, allowing a lot greater versatility than the above two options, but then is also harder to implement.

4. 1 map like the underground part of sandbox, a big green box with no sky, etc, where everything is green, but you would need to have the wireframe thing mentioned above, and perhaps visable weapons, or both green and visable weapons

this would mean that you could edit master cheif into the real world without it looking like you cut out the footage frame by frame in Paint, it would mean you could easily put in backgrounds that wouldnt otherwise be available, you could have multiplayer battles conducted in campaign scenarios, or vehicles/weapons on maps you would otherwise be unable to do so with.

so, what do you guys think:)

(p.s. anybody who complains about this being too long, or makes some wisecrack about chinas wall, etc, needs to grow up and mature a little)

you dont think that the endless possibilities created by a few green blocks would be worth it?

and the whole point of theatre is film, to show your friends, some people then upload it to their computers and make it even better

or just to save films of perfections, exterminations killtac's....... but thats just a maybe i mean machinima is much more important than having a blast

well just think.... would adding this cause any harm to people that don't use it?

I don't think adding a green block would take an hour dude. Your argument doesn't prove that its a bad idea. Plus we dont even know the exact release date. Your just trying to think about anything to complain about.

yes, by adding more time used for the creating of the game when, oddly... people want to get to play it

I don't think making a medium sized blank level without any geometry/textures would require immense amount of work....

Assuming Halo: Reach will hold halo fans over for 3-4 years I wouldn't mind them adding features as the op stated and if it takes just that much longer to implement it so be it because ultimately it's more bang for my buck when the game launches.

Patience is a virtue, is it not?

A million screaming little boys would beg to differ.

I say why not. So long as it doesn't delay the game too long.

It's an okay idea, but I'd rather them take more time fixing other aspects of the game rather than using it to add green screened objects. It seems to me that the only people that really care that much about machinima are the ones that make it. If it won't take long, or is an easy fix, I say go for it, because it is a fix to something that would otherwise take a lot of time.
