To both of your posts:

Here is what is in Modern Warfare 2.

- New Campaign (confirmed to have a new engine)
- Multiplayer (unknown if it has a new engine)
- A new Co-Op mode
- Who knows what else

The Campaign is brand new, and not anything like the first game's.
The Multiplayer will be similar, but not the exact same like ODST's.
The new Co-Op mode is more than just "Stand here and kill the waves of Covenant
Infinity Ward could have more in store for us, which they probably do.

ODST : We're paying for something twice

MW2: We're paying for new content.

This too. the only new thing in ODST is Campaign and Firefight.

How about MW2's?

MW2 is essentially just new levels to COD4. ODST's is a new type of campaign setup.

MW2's multiplayer is just what you have in COD4, but new maps. Halo ODST's is firefight and just Halo 3's but with 3- 13 new maps.

MW2 reminds me of GRAW2/Vegas2, sequels only by name. Truly just an expansion that seperates the content onto seperate discs.

13 new maps? New means "not old". There's only 3 new maps. Whether you have them or not doesn't make them new.

MW2 might be essentially the same as MW1 but it has more content than ODST (without Halo 3's maps and Multiplayer), that's from halo 3, it isn't part of ODST).

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there's no good reason to go into space--each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision.

also the new game mode firefight isnt matchmaking. You will have to find people either on here or on your friend's list to play it...

How does Modern Warfare 2 have more content? The campaign will most likely be shorter if the past is anything to go by, and it's just MW1 with new maps for multiplayer! I don't get it. So Halo: ODST is just however many maps MW2 has minus 3 but then it has Firefight ?

Ahh...what am I saying. Some people are just too dense to see what a sequel with evolution is compared to just new levels and maps for the same game.

Now if you answer this question, I'll say you win.

Why is Modern Warfare 2 anything more than an expansion?

The campaign to MW2 is just new levels to what could be COD4 and so is the multiplayer.

ODST's is a new setup, more like a spinoff. It too has what you could call a new multiplayer(the halo 3 disc) as it's what Call of Duty does--> same game, new maps.

Modern warfare 2 has an all new campaign, an all new engine, an all new multiplayer mode, all new online maps, new perks and guns.

ODST has a new campaign built from an old engine. A new multiplayer mode. The EXACT same multiplayer with 3 new maps, and the three maps will be available sooner or later on the marketplace.

And its Halo 3: ODST. Not Halo 4: ODST

its not a full game. same game engine.

Okay?

Bioshock, Gears of War, Mirror's Edge, etc. all use the same engine. You're right, they're not all full different games.

Agreed it has a spin-off of Blam Zombies... Called terrorist zombies. Using vehicles isn't new it was in COD WAW.

Tell em this: what was Call of Duty: World at War?

It really was just Call of Duty 4 with a new campaign and maps and then a zombie mode, was it not? Of course, guns were changed though.

Call of Duty, Vegas, GRAW, , etc. really are all just franchises with expansions that seperate content . They're only full games by name alone.
If I called Call of Duty 7, Modern Warfare 2: Back to World War 2, would it be any less of a game than Call of Duty 7: Back to World War 2?

I feel liek i'm beating a dead horse here.... but this is the last time I am going to post in this thread either you get it or you don't... so I advise you read this very carfully... cuz I doubt anyone will dumb this down more for you....

ODST ----> (((IS))) <---[notice the "IS" previous to this braceted statment] HALO3... with a campaign expansion...

modern warefare 2 ... you might aswell forget the name and call it "hello kitties island adventure" because other than it having the same characters... same game modes... same guns... same gameplay(hopefully) COD4 and MW2 have ABSOLUTLY NOTHING in common.

you could LITERALLY put ODST on the HALO3 disc... you could not do that with COD4 and MW2..,. they read diferently to the xbox.... because they were created from a different source... or engine.

like all of the world of warcraft expansions... you get new levels... new spells or whatever... but its the same game.
where as if World of warcraft (2) came out... it would be a sequal.

and yes... COD:waw was a COD4 expansion... treyarch used infinity wards COD4 engine and build that game... they could esentially play off of the same disc.

Treyarch made World at War. Infinity Ward made Modern Warfare, and are making Modern Warfare 2. Just because Treyarch copied Modern Warfare, doesn't mean Infinity Ward will.

Call of Duty: World at War was an expansion. It was pretty much a world war 2 exact copy of modern warfare. It was created by a terrible developer that rides infinity ward's coattails.

Now you tell me this. By your definition of an expansion was halo 3 not just an expansion of halo 2? And Halo 2 an expansion of Halo CE? And every single sequel to a game just an expansion? Because all any of those did was add new content.

Oh, then that'd be a fair point, but again, if history serves its purpose, they will.

COD1 was COD2. COD2 was COD4 (although they did add the sprint button which was a notable addition).
It's fair to say COD5 will be COD4.

It's funny you give Treyarch so much flak though for reskinning COD4, which was what Infinity Ward had been doing; Call of Duty 3 was easily the biggest departure the franchise has taken.

I guess the difference is that you think Call of Duty 6(modern warfare 2) will be actually different from COD4. Something tells me you got into COD with 4. I've been playing since 1, and truthfully, there hasn't been any truly huge additions since then.

You sir, deserve a lolcat.

MW2:
New campaign
New multiplayer
New Multiplayer modes
New perks
New guns
New Multiplayer Maps

ODST:
campaign
firefight

That's it. Everything else in ODST shouldn't be there in the first place and isn't technically part of ODST. It's part of Halo 3. It doesn't matter if MW2's stuff is essentialy the same. ODST has less content.

Of course one major difference between ODST and MW2 is that in MW2 you don't have to pay for something twice.

What do you mean COD5 will be COD4? You can't talk in future talk when the two games are already out, again, you don't make sense at all. And from what you're saying, you're basically saying the whole Call of Duty series is a bunch of games copying from one another. Wrong. The first 2 Call of Duty games had the same engine, but the second one added Multiplayer, which made it different.

The third one used a different engine, and had multiplayer, again, making it different. The fourth and fifth one, were yes, the same, I'll agree, but to a point. Treyarch and Infinity Ward are two different companies, and Treyarch tends to survive in the gaming business by having Infinity Ward's smash hit Cod4 and soon to be Modern Warfare 2 along side their name.

Infinity Ward hasn't "reskinned" a game. Call of Duty 3 had a new engine. And yes, I'll give all the flak to Treyarch I want, they suck, and I hope they leave Call of Duty forever soon. Infinity Ward makes better games, I'm tired of Treyarch always going back to WW2.

lol dude... the term expansion isn't dependant on perspective... it's a technical term.
if COD4 were (1.0) COD:waw would be (1.5) and MW2 would be (2.0)
and MW2 isn't part of the Call of duty franchise.....

1. It's called Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty has been taken out of the title.

2. Halo 3: ODST. Note the Halo 3 part.

3. Modern Warfare 2 is a sequel to the first game (CoD: Modern Warfare)

4. Halo 3: ODST is simply an expansion to the Halo 3 game.

5. My logic wins, your's fails.

6. You haven't played either game yet. How do you know the multiplayer maps in MW2 will be ripped off the Campaign? Idiot. Same with all the things you suddenly "assumed" will be/won't be in the game.

I've played Cod 4, not too impressed. As for WaW...well lets just say Cod 4 is $49.99 at MY gamestop new... and WaW is $35.99...both new too.

and btw, just because MW2 doesn't have CoD in the title, is a stupid reason for t not to be in the CoD franchise. Anyway this topic is dumb, just all us nerds fighting over which game is better.
