You don't understand. It would be impractical to release a new engine. Its a nice touch if true, but not needed. You don't need a new engine to remove the invisible tripwire. You just take it out, and instead, put a set amount of enemies. Much easier than making a brand new engine. It's probably, almost surely, a heavily modified CoD4:MW engine.

No, you do not understand. I said it's basically a new engine (meaning it's not, but it pretty much is) because they are forced to design the levels differently, instead of a big open area, they'll need closed in areas so you can't kill all the enemies real quick. Please, don't reply again until you understand what I'm saying, because I don't want to get pissed off, which I do when people are stupid and don't read my posts.

Do you even know what an engine is. And if you say,"It's basically a new engine", then it's a new engine. Level design has nothing to do with the engine. And you still haven't provided me a source showing where they said it's a new engine. You can design a plethora of different scenarios with one engine. Take the Source engine. I used the example before, but apparently you ignored it. There are 34 different games using it. Many of which are very different from one another. They include all 8 Half Life 2 games, episodes, and spinoffs. The counterstrike games, Portal, Team Fortress 2, and both Left 4 Deads. So it's still being used. Now if an engine can be used for such a wide variety of different games, including puzzle, class-based first person shooter, and a zombie survival games, then why the hell can't MW2 use the same engine as the first modern warfare. You are the stupid one, sir.

You don't understand, yet again, what I'm saying. I know it's not a new "engine" I'm saying it basically is (by this I mean the amount of things they'll have to change in the levels and things is basically the amount of work that would go into a new engine) Don't you dare call me stupid when you're too ignorant and flat out idiotic to comprehend simple things I say to you. This time, read the post, and don't jump to your nerd files and tell me what engines are, I don't care. You didn't understand my posts, so hopefully you will now. You sir, need reading classes.

Oh, and here's your source, since you're obviously too stupid to realize what Google is for.

I'll only call you what you deserve to be called. And for your information, I have already done my homework. I looked at various sources to see if it used a new engine, and nothing came up. So stop being a smartass and give me an actually link. Bravo, btw, on you're amazing comeback. If you can't think think of an intelligent response, call him a nerd and you win. What exceptional reasoning. And as the post above me says, removing the invisible tripwire is extremely easy. You very much merit the "stupid" title I have bestowed upon you. An engine takes an incredibly long time to build. Much longer than slightly rennovating the level design. Please read my post, about the source engine. Same engine. Tons of different play styles and scenario's. I'm starting to think you don't even know how a game is made.

I have one answer to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QyYaPWasos

:D

Personally, you are really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really stupid. Watch the videos of MW2 and you'll hear him say it, I'm not going to watch all the videos for some jerkoff, like yourself. And what do you mean, a good comeback? You are a nerd, I'm being serious. If you know how video games and engines are built, you must be one of those kids that no one likes in school and has no life. Hmm, do you go outside? Do you know what trees are? Do you scream and run away when you see a bug? I'm assuming so. And how do you know it's easy to remove the infinite enemies from the engine? Did you make the engine? I don't think so. It could be very complex. So unless you personally show me a video of an intelligent person that made the engine say it's easy, you lose. Please read MY again. I have already said so many times that it would change the way they would make the levels, no more open areas, it'll have to be closed in areas or something of the latter to make it harder for you. Jesus, you never even read my posts, have you? I've said numerous times that it would affect the way they make levels, and you haven't responded to that fact. You keep saying "it's easy to remove the trip wire."

You're a -blam!- moron. Read my posts, then come back after you realize how stupid you are.

Easy slegger, you need to let this thread die. You've been here since yesterday ripping everyone apart, just let it go and take a chill pill.

5. My logic wins, your's fails.

Precisely the opposite actually. You have almost no logic at all, and that which you do have is flawed.

'Halo 3: ODST is simply an expansion to the Halo 3 game', he says it isn't, and backs it up, and your refutation is just to say that it is? You sir are an idiot, and only prove it in subsequent posts.

Entirely new campaign = new game, otherwise every 'sequel' is in actual fact an expansion, which is BS, like most of your posts. You simply say you are right, he is wrong, and that is that. Are you 8 years old? That sort of thing might have worked when I was that old.

Really? So the -blam!- load of posts I made backing my point up, isn't backing it up? Don't jump into this argument after 4 pages of it and start flaming people, you -blam!- troll. You sir, are an idiot for being so ignorant and moronic that you cannot process that there are 4 pages of posts, which I've posted in many a times. So, shut the hell up and go back and read my posts, before you jump into this argument, and once you do, I'll gladly allow you to flame me mindlessly like your buddy down there. And yes, I'm 8 years old, how did you know?

Anyway, until you read my posts, I'm not going to respond to you. I don't have the time for idiots like yourself. Man, so many idiots now-a-days.

I'm not saying that, I'm just saying that this thread should die. It's been a back and forth flame war and it looks like it's not going to stop.

Good point. I'll let it die, but if those 2 respond to me, I'm responding back.

I also responded to the fact that you said that it would change the way they make levels. First off, how? How does it change the level design. Before, you had to reach a checkpoint to stop enemies. Now, you just have a set amount of enemies. I also stated that you have it backwards. The first MW was much more linear(do you know what that means?) than than MW2. Infinity Ward said this(you know, the guys who made it). Have you see the demo. It's extremely open. And cute video btw. Nice coverup to you're lame jokes and lack of info. But you did start the flame war. I was quite civil to begin with. Where do you come up with this -blam!-?

Edit- I tried civil discussion. I really did. If you can't respond in an intelligent manner, just don't respond. I'll stop flaming when you stop. An eye for an eye.

Oh, intelligence sounds good.

Yes, I've read it, but is he the engineer who made the specific engine? No, he's not. So I'm not going to take facts from someone who probably didn't do what they said, and that isn't the creator of the engine we're talking about. It changes it because, in the Call of Duty 4 and 5 levels, they were all open, for the most part, huge areas with lots of cover. They could do this, because the enemies wouldn't stop coming until you reached the trip line. Now, they can't do that. It was easy to kill the enemies, right? Well, in this game, that would be fairly stupid to have open areas as you could kill them in a matter of seconds, move on to the next area. They're going to have to design it differently so it'll take longer to find and kill them, not the "spray and pray into that cave" or whatever. Also, they said in one of the E3 09 videos that they made some of the levels with a stealth feeling to them, so that's definitely a change from the 4th and 5th games. And what do you mean, cute video? I'm not trying to "cover up my lame jokes and lack of info" It's a funny video, showing people flaming each other, which we are doing. I never knew trying to bring a friendly laugh to your life would result in me "covering up my lame jokes and lack of info." :\

You flamed me first, remember that. I didn't say anything to you, but you chose to flame me. So, please tell me how it's irony. Yes, I'm having an argument with another member, but that's not acting "high and mighty" that's arguing over what we believe is true. You, are just mindlessly flaming me with no facts or proof. So, flame me all you want, but don't fall off your throne of mightiness.

It's not really flaming if it's the truth. To be honest you aren't really taking in any other perspective on the matter aside from your own. You're infallible in your own little world, no one else can be right unless they agree with you. I wouldn't really call that an argument. An argument would entail two people, and in your world there is only one...

Oh. My bad on the video. That was what I thought, but then you ruined it with the onslaught of insults and thought it was sarcasm. Sorry about that. It was pretty funny and true. I just called it lame cuz I was in internet Hulk mode. And nice to see you didn't flame, so I will stop as well. But I don't think that a new engine is needed. The battlefields in MW2 were "open", but the level was linear. Where could you go? Forward and back(well, you know what I mean.) In the new demo, it's a circular field, where you can take any number of differen't ways to complete you're objective. Infinity Ward also said, that the levels would be more open, not less. And as you said before, they are the ones who made it. And there was a large amount of enemies, and a more advanced AI, so it will be just as difficult as the previous one, if not more, but with more realism. And you don't need a new engine to change just that. And did they ever say that they were using a new engine. No. So we have to speculate, but so far, it's a clear indication that it's the MW2 engine. It would just be a waste of time and money to build a new engine, and there is no way they could do it in that short of a time period.

Who said no one else can be right? The purpose of an argument is to prove that you're right, and show your facts to the opponent. That's what were doing. So, please, stop trying to flame me. Even after telling you not to flame me, you do it anyway. This proves how ignorant you are.

Yeah, I know, they won't make a new engine, for the reasons you said, but I'm just saying I think they will design the levels differently. I think you mean "The battlefields in Modern Warfare" were open, :P. Yes, you can go about your objective in different ways, but in that level, visual sight was reduced. It was during a blizzard, so you couldn't see very far in front of you, which makes it even more like a stealth mission. Also, the amount of vehicles, fighter jets, and storage crates around the enemies pretty much proves they're trying to go about it in a different way. I never actually heard them say they would be more open, but maybe they will be, I don't know. Like you said, we're pretty much guessing right now, based on what we already know. No, they never said they were using a new engine, but still, I think they will be designing the levels differently since they took the infinite enemies out. Or maybe, like you said, they'll have open big levels and just make the AI more advanced, who knows, again, it's only guessing. Agreed, they aren't making a new engine, but like I said many a times, I really think they will make the levels differently.

Or maybe, like you said, they'll have open big levels and just make the AI more advanced, who knows, again, it's only guessing. Agreed, they aren't making a new engine, but like I said many a times, I really think they will make the levels differently.

Agreed. Let's call it a day, and let this thread die.

No, they never said they were using a new engine, but still, I think they will be designing the levels differently since they took the infinite enemies out. okay... I'm only going to stat the most basic of facts.... ODST was made using the same engine as halo3... MW2 is a game built from the ground up.

This. This is what I forgot to say in my original post.

No it wasn't. Every new COD uses the same principles from the last. Saying it uses a new engine is an assumption.

And even then, that'd just be referencing technical aspects, which isn't really a good point.

WOW!! JUST WOW!! ... DUDE... are you going to stfu and listen or are you going to keep arguing your uninformed biased opinion... even though you stated in the first post that you don't know what makes a game an expansion? grow up.

You gotta love these kinds of kids

Treyarch made World at War. Infinity Ward made Modern Warfare, and are making Modern Warfare 2. Just because Treyarch copied Modern Warfare, doesn't mean Infinity Ward will.

Oh, then that'd be a fair point, but again, if history serves its purpose, they will.

COD1 was COD2. COD2 was COD4 (although they did add the sprint button which was a notable addition).
It's fair to say COD5 will be COD4.

It's funny you give Treyarch so much flak though for reskinning COD4, which was what Infinity Ward had been doing; Call of Duty 3 was easily the biggest departure the franchise has taken.

guys just pointing this out but cod 4 and cod waw both have activision on it soo... im pretty shure that they made the cod games so trey arch didnt rip off infinty ward or anyone
although this guy one question why do you care if its an expansion? it doesnt make a difference and mw2 just has more of everything then cod 4

1. It's called Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty has been taken out of the title.

2. Halo 3: ODST. Note the Halo 3 part.

3. Modern Warfare 2 is a sequel to the first game (CoD: Modern Warfare)

4. Halo 3: ODST is simply an expansion to the Halo 3 game.

5. My logic wins, your's fails.

6. You haven't played either game yet. How do you know the multiplayer maps in MW2 will be ripped off the Campaign? Idiot. Same with all the things you suddenly "assumed" will be/won't be in the game.

1. So if we take Halo or 3 out of ODST it's suddenl not a expansion.

2. Same as above, and maybe you didn't notice the "modern warfare" in "modern warfare 2"

3. Halo 3 ODST, is prequel to Halo 3, just like how modern warfare 2 is a sequel. God your dumb.

4. Funny, isn't modern warfare 2 an expansion aswell. If anything, its more of an expansion than ODST. Because MW2 gives no updated features or even any new gameplay mechanics, only a story. And then correct me if I'm wrong but ODST features never seen before features in the Halo trilogy and different gameplay mechanics never ever seen before in any FPS I know of.

5. Your logic is incredibly bad because you gave no facts to support your assumptions, and everything you said completely backfired at you.

6. He is actually quite logical to expect MW2 to recycle campaign maps and convert them to MP maps because every other COD game has done the same thing.

Oh, if you come back with" MS justs milks the Halo cow, I geuss you should know that there have been more COD games then Halo games.

MW2:
New campaign - Will be practically the same
New multiplayer - Will be practically the same
New Multiplayer modes - Which Halo keeps adding in regularly and free
New perks - Even more ways to ruin the game
New guns - New skins for the guns. They will all be the same
New Multiplayer Maps - Which could be added normally

ODST:
New and different campaign
Firefight
New weapons
Different enemies
New Multiplayer maps

Sorted.

You're so -blam!- dumb I'm almost crying. I was correcting his mistakes in his post, you ignorant little prick. Don't you dare call me dumb when you haven't read any of my posts besides my first one. I'm not replying to you when you reply to this post, It will be filled with "zomg no u r n00b!111" I can't believe you actually posted that. You are so, so, so stupid.

What I don't see is why so many people are spamming and flaming Halo 3: ODST and praising COD in a HALO forum. This isn't a place for people to come in and troll about how Halo 3: ODST isn't this or sucks this or hasn't got that. Go take your COD spam somewhere else. This post is directed towards all who are promoting COD and flaming Halo.
