Subject: Why I think that Halo Reach won't use Natal [for the most part]

This is simple reasoning on my side.

We know that with Halo 3 : ODST a key to the Reach beta will ship. Reach will fall in 2010. So let's say that Reach is released at the end of 2010. Since Bungie says it will be released in 2010, we'll assume that it's out in Q4. The beta should be around the middle of 2010, no? That's how Halo 3 was.

And people have suggested that Natal will be released at the end of 2010. So therefore, the beta will not be using Natal technology. If it does, it has to be closed [which we know it is not, because of ODST shipping with a key].

So that establishes the fact that the Reach beta will NOT use Natal technology.

Now, what's the point of a beta? A beta is to test for bugs in a game. You cannot make a beta KNOWING that you will drastically change the gameplay experience of the game after the beta is finished. So therefore, Halo: Reach cannot use Natal. Theoretically, it could be possible, but imagine the outcry of people who want Halo: Reach to be exactly like the beta?

True, Natal may be used in small segments, in parts of Reach that can only be accessed by Natal users. I think the chances are slim though.

Do you think I'm right, or would you care to counter my argument?

agreed.
besides, halo has always been a competitive game. I don't think those MLG guys would appreciate playing a wii-sport like game.

(same for all typical overweight 12 year old americans).

That would be hilarious. To see all the overweight MLG players saying, "Oh, if it used controllers we would be pro!"

Therefore Natal = End of MLG. Hooray!

It isn't our shiznit anymore.

While I do partly agree, I have a question. Why start a new Natal Thread when there are two others already made that discuss this very topic?

Just because natal and reach are coming out, theoretically here, end of 2010, doesn't mean that reach can't use it. It doesn't need to be released for developers to be able to use them in games, such as Lionhead studios with that Milo game they showed at e3.

The point is that if the Reach Beta uses Natal, how the hell do we play the Reach beta since Natal won't be released?

30% of people are obese in America (and that was in 2000).

Life is interesting...

I never would have guessed that Americans live in America...

Any way, the Reach Beta is shipping with ODST meaning it is going to be played through the menu, like if you played Crackdown for Halo 3 beta. So, yay for no Natal, and nay for your reasoning.

But it could still be Natal even though it would be played through the menu. How do you play Guitar Hero and Rock Band?

Only when you consider some of MY reasoning [not to brag lol] does it seem obvious that Natal won't be used in Reach.
