Life is interesting...

Well, I don't know about any of you guys but, in reach I would like to see a smart veto system. A system that keeps track of the maps/gametypes that you veto, and acts accordingly in the future, giving the maps and gametypes that you like.

In Halo 3 you can veto something you don't want, then get something worse. With my idea you can veto something and get something else that is much better in your opinion. The only problem I can think of is being matched up with someone who is like-minded. For example, not a whole lot of people like what you like and you won't get a match very easily. So to counter this negative, let the player have the option to toggle smart veto on or off. Just like when you want a match with high quality connection, or you don't care.

So what do you all think?

IF it doesn't slow down matchmaking, then sure.

however your system is flawed until you've been playing for some time, the system won't know which maps you like or not.

It isn't our shiznit anymore.

It wouldn't work because everyone has different preferences for maps and gametypes. The option would pretty much be useless since it would never work. If you have the toggle option, it would just put you back to where you started.

My idea requires you to play matchmaking and use the veto system wisely, common sense would tell you that.

I am guessing you don't understand, would you have me elaborate more on something?

I prefer the normal veto system, to be honest. A team of second-accounters could go into Matchmaking and "prefer" all the bad maps to annoy the other team. The only solution to that is disabling this "preference" system for teams of around half the maximum team size, or more. Not a bad idea, but just wouldn't work.

Good idea. Like others though, I'm not sure if it is truly implementable

What you are suggesting is a system that would only work if everyone who plays Halo is like minded about the game. Since this never will happen, the system will never work. Your backup to this plan is simply to revert to the old veto system. How about we just keep the old veto system? I hope I am understanding this.

No

When you look at Halo's fanbase, you see there are an unbelievable amount of players. Averaging 200,000 every time I look. That is a lot of people. So, what I am saying is, you will only play with like-minded people. I am also saying, to keep the old veto system as is, it works fine. But there are many that would like to have a smart veto, so after you play a little while the game keeps track of all the vetoes you made and matches you up with games you like.

really for the veto system, the only thing i want to see changed is the ability to veto JUST the map or JUST the gametype.

Hit (X) to veto map
Hit (Y) to veto gametype

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

Well, what if the maps you like, everybody else doesn't like, or vice versa? You would think the system is broken, but in reality it works.

So your idea is flawed. I hate Standoff, but believe it or not, a lot of players love Standoff.

And there are many that don't like it.

I don't like Standoff either.
Many don't like Isolation either. Bungie has a HUGE fanbase. Think of the hundreds of thousands every day. You WILL find a match. It works in Shadowrun, in fact, it is easier in Shadowrun, just put maps you don't like on the list and you don't get them. I thought of this idea because it forces you to play something before you don't like it. Also in Shadowrun, I find matches quicker than in Halo 3.

I see the pros of having a system like this such as never playing maps that you don't like and such but there are also cons that you have to consider. If this system is available in Halo: Reach you will naturally have maps that are fan favorites and because of that you will eventually only be playing the same fan favorite map all the time. Also by playing maps that you don't like you do get better at the game. By playing the same map all day, everyday, you get used to where those specific weapons are and those vehicles and you never expand your horizon ever. If I went all day and only played Valhalla than I would undoubtedly become amazing at that map but one little slip in the system and I get stuck playing somewhere like Assembly or something (just an example), I would end up getting my butt kicked.
