Problem
In Halo 3 there is the 'golden triangle' of attacking; melee, shooting, and grenades. When you dual wield, you lose one of the 'triangle', grenades.

Grenades (in Halo 3) aren't actually a very significant loss (unless you are using a BR). If you are using a PR or SMG, you really don't care if you lose a grenade. Its a tiny loss, therefore for balance you can only get a tiny gain. Dual wielding weps can only be a tiny bit better then normal because grenades are a tiny benefit.
Small loss = small gain
Significant loss = significant gain

Fix
1. Meleeing is impossible when dual wielding. Meleeing is a VERY large portion of your attacking; a significant loss. Losing both parts of the triangle, the remaining one should be as powerful as its losses. Dual wield weapons can be just as strong by itself, and be 2x as strong when dual wielded making it worth using and preventing the half weapon syndrome.

or

2. Make grenades much stronger (Halo 1 style). Again, a significant loss (grenades) can equal allowing a significant gain (more damage from dual wielding)

If this (click the link) doesn't happen, then dual wielding should be removed all together.

Sort of. You loose your left gun, but I don't think that's what OP was talking about. I think he knows this and was suggesting that they make it impossible to melee while duel wielding.

Agreed. I really hope Bungie has had their Half-Weapon Syndrome cured.

-blam!- the Free World!!!!

If they change it, it could be twice as stronger but only at a closer range.

He's not an idiot; the DW weapons are only half as strong/versatile as they should be. The PR, for example, is now only good for taking down shields, whereas when it was SW in Halo 1, it was a midrange weapon with a headshot bonus and a unique "stun" effect.

They are not versatile at all. They are only useful at very close range, though the pistol is one of the few that can work at close-mid range, though it won't be effective if you're playing an even match (such as in ranked matchmaking).
