What about a CD included with Reach that is like is like a map editor in Halo 2 except for Vista and XP? Then upload the map to BNet and download the custom map some what like download forge maps from BNet. No need for file share or importing saves from xport. You set to private for your friends or public for everyone to download. Custom Maps can't be used in matchmaking.

-blam!- the Free World!!!!

Could you clear things up a bit, because I'm a little unfamiliar with the Halo 2 map editor (I have played and beaten the game, though).

It would make editing much easier and would enable modders to make costom objects so we wouldn't have to turn the boxes on foundry on their sides to make a decent map.

I don't know much except you can add your own custom models and weapons.

You should put another option into the poll: "Hell no, it would be lame!". Bungie do FPS's very very very well and should stick to what they know best. If they wasted time on a map maker then that is time lost that could have been spent making the overall FPS feel better. Forge was very good but that's what it should stay at.

Their are people that don't even play matchmaking that spend most of their time forging and playing customs. I'm sure if Bungie was going to put a map editor in Reach it wouldn't ruin the overall quality of their game. I'm sure they would even have a whole team of so many people that would work on the editor alone. To sum your post up this is all I heard.....

"Blah Blah Blah I have no imagination blah blah blah I suck at forge and can't think of cool things to make.... Blah blah blah because I don't think it's a good idea I don't think of the population of players that would find an Editor interesting so I'm so going to be an inconsiderate prick blah blah blah if thier was an editor I wouldn't even play player created maps because I'm an idiot"

Okay...so...reported...yeah
Next, i enjoy Forge and i don't "suck" at it, i just think that Bungie should stick to their roots when it comes to Halo games, rather than branching out into unknown territory for them. Next time, as SuperIntendant would say: "Keep It Clean".

If you like Forge you should like the idea of a map editor. Therefore I can't believe you like forge that much. Do you think Halo 3 was a good game? If so... Do you think Forge and the time bungie spent on forge and theater ruined the overall quality of the game? Think of what Halo 3 would have been without forge or theater. The same exact thing it is now but without these 2 awesome features.

EDIT: Basically your logic makes little sense. Don't make a Map Editor Bungie because It will ruin the over time and quality you put into the regular game....

Amazing Idea IMO. People love custom games as much as (or even more than) normal games. Plus the things people could do are almost limitless (Reach bloodgulch anyone?)

  • 07.05.2009 6:57 PM PDT

Underwater Eagle.

I would be happy with any sort of map editor. Imagine what it would mean if Bungie were to make a system better than Forge!

  • 07.05.2009 6:58 PM PDT

I got the H2 Vista and tried the map editor thing but couldn't figure a damn thing out about it.
As long as I can play new levels I dont care who makes them

I see what you mean but i still think they shouldn't go any further than Forge...I mean look at Far Cry...All Far Cry is is a good map maker with a pretty pants story attached to it and i don't want that to happen to Reach because the story is what makes a Halo game in my opinion.

How do you figure people would bring their meshes onto the game from their computers for custom items and weapons?

This is Bungie not Ubi$soft for christ sake the have i part of micro$oft in their name they have to be all for the money.... To redo the question for you... If you could have a Map Editor in which wouldn't ruin the overall greatness of Reach(which it wouldn't) would you want it?

Let there be light, created from fire

I am all i am, i am a team player(when im not pissed), i make great strategies, i will punch you in the face after armor locking, you have to be at sniper distance to not get headshot by my DMR or pistol, wraiths beware, i am DxXOrangesXxD and i am ready to rumble! (When Halo 4 comes out cause Reach is nothing but crap players now)

halo 2 has a map editor? lol

I also posted this in another thread, but what if this new editor had a feature in which you could choose what race could make up a certain team on that map in addition to team specific spawn points. This would open up the game to people that want to create Human vs Covenant or Elite vs Brute or a whole slew of other scenario options!

I'd be torn 50/50 because some people out there make really buggy/glitchy/crappy maps which take up about 90% of server space...i think i prefer it when people are restricted to placing things on allready pre-defined maps, that way atleast you know the general layout of it. On the other hand, map editors have created marvelous maps that almost cancel out all the junk...So...I'm still undecided at the moment although i'm probably swinging more towards "Not really"...

(Oh and yeah, i'm aware i just went back on myself there "50/50" and "more one way" but i realised that second part as i was typing and it is literally only slightly one way, like 51/49 :P )

I like the idea, but it would take the fun out of forge, no forging with your friends. No going to check out new maps without having a computer next to you. Also no messing around to pass the time with your friends as well. I like Halo 3's forge because it was a new unexpected experience that was fun for the "whole family", something to do when custom games and matchmaking wasn't appealing at the moment. If there was some way to collaborate all the bells and whistles from the computer editing forge on to a console than a new forge would be amazing, but I don't really want a Halo Forge experience on a computer. But this is still a great way to introduce a map editor, not a forge to Halo:Reach.

There can be forge and a map editor that is proper. Plus you may like custom games or matchmaking in H:R than H3.
