Many people seem to be complaining about ODST's pricing. It seems people have forgotten the days before online. All you would get in a game was the campaign/story mode and you paid the same price as games cost today. Now, what baffles me is people are complaining about ODST being full priced because it features the same online that you can get from Halo 3. The game features a whole new campaign (which in the old days is all you would have gotten), a huge new gameplay mode in Fire Fight, 3 new maps you cant get elsewhere AND all the Halo 3 DLC.

So what is there to complain about? Please people grow up and stop looking for the slightest detail to pick at. If you hate the price so much, I propose a revolutionary idea to you. Are you ready...? DONT BUY IT! OMG!

Discuss.

You get ALL the DLC? -blam!-, then why did I download them?!?! I spent 2400 M$ points on those maps. Thats $30!!

  • 07.06.2009 2:45 AM PDT

Get in the flask!

dude ive been playen games since i was 3 (f yeah GAMER) and yes games mostly just came with a campaign but with the expansion of the internet people have become more acustom to more for less, so they want more for less yet they dont apreciate the amount they have already, personally i think the price is fine and the game quality is hyper compaired to the 90's we used to pay the same amount (also quoted by you) for a less quality game (in comparison).

but yeah im with you, soo People STOP COMPLAINING the game is awsome and so are the creaters...

but dont tell them to not buy it dude thats bad for the econamy =D

and yeah on the note of stop complaining - dual weilding is silly so stop posting comments on it.

AND REMEMBER

IT'S A GAME

You downloaded them to play them earlier, it's that simple.

The DLC is old now, you really cant complain that you bought something and now theyre giving it away for free. It's like I was selling cookies. At the begining of the day when the cookies are fresh you buy some. Then at the end of the day I want to go home yet I still have cookies left so I give them away. You cant come back and complain that you had to pay for your cookies.

I'd just like to say that today, I went down to EB and laid down 20 bucks for my ODST preorder, and I fully intend to pay the rest come September 22nd. I totally agree with what your saying, and really, people shouldn't complain about the price hike when in terms of campaign we don't know what to expect, and honestly, Firefight looks amazing. Put it this way: Gears of War 2, which had plenty of features and was full priced, came with Campaign, Co-Op, Horde (read: Firefight) and online. ODST comes with Campaign, Co-Op, Firefight, Theatre and much better online, including three new maps (Oh, and maybe Forge in some measure) Honestly, ODST is worth more than full price.

Having just played through Prototype in one weekend (a game that should have cost full price, but luckily i rented it) I think that online play is now a massive part of the gaming experience and am looking forward to playing ODST firefight with my friends.

As for the multiplayer maps being on the second disk at least that will stop all the "why won't my maps load on my second and third accounts, i want to own noobs" threads.

Hah, I know right. It's because all the 12 year olds are just learning about Halo, and come onto the forums complaining that their mom's don't have enough money to buy them the game. Because, what kind of older person, would complain about buying something they like? Oh wait, half the forum's population apparently.

Rule 6: Respect the Admins

“It’s their website, and they can do whatever the hell they like with it. You’re a guest, and hassling them about how they run things is akin to going round your Auntie’s house and curling one out in her tea-pot.”

$30 dollars? That's chump change.......... I bought the map packs and you don't see me complaining about it.

Heaven forbidd you have to pay the same amount of money for 1 games, as you pay for every other game.

But for every other game we're not paying things twice. ODST seems to be the only one to give you something twice (which you have to pay for)

We're getting a brand spankin' new Campaign and an awesome new mode, Firefight.
The only thing we're getting twice is Multiplayer, but that's irrelevant, as this is an expansion, not a stand a lone game.

How is paying for something twice irrelevant? I know nothing is going to change, but I want everyone to stop with this crap and admit that we're paying for something twice.

People are complaining because online multiplayer has taken over now. Campaign is where it used to be at, and still is for me. I <3 it, and I'd pay full price for ODST even without firefight, new maps ect. It will be epic.

Now Gentlemen, i agree with your opinions and see all of your points. but i would just like to say that i have been a fan and a player of bungies games since marathon and the way bungie puts there heart and soul into a game is unpresidented and unmatched by alot of other companys that are just turning out titles to make a quick buck (Electronic Arts). Now with that being said, like i had said ive been a long time fan and follower of the bungie games and a even bigger fan of the halo games since released. but i have to ask all of you when is it we are going to get a break. 60$ for a game i bought two years ago and some add-ons. i just feel that bungie has yet to award there long standing fans and consumers that buy there games and but bread on there table. now i might sound hipacritical, but i have as well put money down on ODST. but this is simply a point im trying to say. not make. and i also UNDERSTAND that it was my choice to buy the game/ ITS ONLY A GAME... BLAH BLAH BLAH. we get it!!! you dont have to proove to us that u have a life. Your on a video game studios website disgussing there products. This is what your here for so dnt flame people who want to talk about them. Thank you

It seems that trend is starting up once again since 2007's BioShock. And I'm serious. Reviewers have been picky over good single-player experiences ever since that game. As well, people who only play multiplayer and don't like the campign need to look at not only BioShock, but both Half-Lifes and the king of Halo games, Halo: Combat Evolved. While CE has multiplayer unlike the other two games, all three were praised based on their single-player experience, with some even stating that it's worth the $50 alone in the case of CE. As well, IW showed us that you can have a good SP and good MP with the original Modern Warfare. So I think that the single-player campaign trend is starting to comeback as the older gamers have gotten maturer and really don't want to play against other humans but want to have a very story-driven experience, which is what I like as well though I am thirteen (I state that since it is abnormal nowadays to like mature things when you are underaged unlike the good ol' days). So, to me, ODST is worth every buck (no pun intended).

It's a mix drink for me, I enjoy and love both SP and MP however I mostly only ever enjoy a game that has a nice balance and doesn't have online only MP. I'm getting tired that a MP game isn't split screen when it darn well could be. I'm more of a Coop kinda guy too.

Talk to the Bones

People need to get it through their thick heads that not every one owns halo 3 and even less own all the DLC, which is why its being added with ODST, think about it, (if you dont already own every thing for halo 3) would you rather buy a game for 60 bucks, then use another 30 for its DLC and about another 20-40 more for an expansion, or would you have it all in one set of 60 bucks minus the original campaign? There are a lot of people who never or no longer own halo 3 for various reason, as well as people who simply don't have its DLC, they could be the majority of gamers at the moment considering the age of the game and the people who hated halo from the start.

  • 07.06.2009 7:24 AM PDT

Firefight is worth the price alone as it will be endlessly playable

It's 3 entirely new maps as well so if you already have the others, you're paying for the new ones you don't - really understand why people have a problem with this

The campaign i imagine will be similarly replayable but maybe in a different way to how the standard linear Halo levels normally are - patrolled streets could potentially have you hanging around or starting the next encounter which would be great lasting fun

The amount of stuff we have in games these days is very generous - i'm still quite happily playing Halo3 campaign missions to know i definitely get my value when it's a Bungie game

People just like to moan i guess

You should of made up your own instrument. You could have named it the PolarLighting -a-phone. People would buy it and they would all be like "Awh, He's so cool for inventing the PolarLighting-a-phone."

OP, are you truly suggesting that we hold today's games to the same standards that we held games up to "in the old days"? As times progress, standards change and people rightfully begin to expect more from developers. A developer can't attempt to sell a $60.00 no-multiplayer title unless the campaign mode warrants such a price.

As far as ODST is concerned, the amount of new content would warrant the price tag if the buyer had, for some reason, never purchased a single DLC Pack for Halo 3, or own a 360 all of these years without having purchased Halo 3 (less than 50% of 360 owners). For those of us who have purchased DLC, this situation is the equivalent of getting spat at. I've purchased all of the DLC within 3 days of release, and even went to the extent of buying the Legendary Edition Halo 3 package when it was released, and I don't have a single regret. Now, if I want the latest expansion I would have to purchase all of that DLC all over again? Would you pay for 3 meals for the price of 6?

This isn't a matter of money, it's a matter of principle. I'm smart enough to know when I'm being screwed over, and will be more than happy to wait for a much needed price drop or an ODST release without the mythic maps.
