You get ALL the DLC? -blam!-, then why did I download them?!?! I spent 2400 M$ points on those maps. Thats $30!!

That's why i did not download them, that's a win win for me.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

People seem to think the world revolves around them, so everyone and everything should adjust accordingly. Too much money? Complain.

"Nah. As long as the prince of darkness is okay with it. I am too. But thanks anyway, Mr. Velvet Spider."

xD

I don't understand why they can't make one version of the retail package that only includes the campaign and firefight and a redeem code for the 3 new maps for like $30-$40. Basically the first disc. People who have all the maps get the 3 new ones with out paying for maps they already have.

  • 07.06.2009 9:46 PM PDT

You guys are looking at it the wrong way. Why do you even consider that you're paying for the Halo 3 maps we already have? You're not. You're paying for everything else.

They could make an ODST version with ALL Halo 3 maps for $60.
They could also make a version without the Halo 3 maps AND IT WOULD STILL COST $60.

In effect, they're giving them out for free. But honestly, if you've purchased all the map packs since the Heroic map pack, then you got your moneys worth out of them already. You've been playing them for almost 2 years now. The cookie analogy was pretty accurate actually....

-I was here

thankyou. the price is fair, i made this same argument in another thread, you spoiled brats need to stop complaining about the price and content. i only paid for legendary and mythic packs, heroic was free. its stupid to complain about paying for the mappacks and then getting them again in odst. they were all eventually going to be made free but no one waits long enuf for them to get it for free, so stop complaining. prices always drop on products.

and also, dont buy it if you cant afford. but $60???? that is chump change. i could buy 5 copys of the collectors edition with the money i saved up...oh wait theres an idea, if you cant afford it, start saving money from birthday presents or chores or whatever, be a manhor if u hav to, just save some money if you need money to buy the game. and be grateful u even have the ability to BUY the game and you dont live in a 3rd world country where u dont even know wat a video game is and to get food, you hav to dodge the animal defenders so u can kill a zebra with a rock and then hav to out run a lion while carrying it so it doesnt kill u and steal the zebra which was meant to feed all 30 members of your village for a week and then you have to worry about all the diseases all over the place cuz u dont have vaccines.

THATS wat ppl in africa have to worry about, complaining about the price of a game is NOTHING compared to the problems of peeple in third world countrys. STOP COMPLAINING!!!! IT COULD BE WORSE!!!

A Microsoft spokesperson responded to us and said, "At the time of those statements, the overall scope of Halo 3: ODST was not yet finalized, and since then the project has grown increasingly more ambitious. We believe this standalone experience is much more than just an expansion. Halo 3: ODST provides a new campaign from the point of view of an entirely new character. Combine that with three new multiplayer maps, the entirely new cooperative mode called Firefight, and the complete Halo 3 multiplayer collection on a standalone disc, we feel this is a good value and tremendous addition to the Halo franchise."

The price shouldnt matter if your getting your $$$,s worth out of the game i actually think the good in ODST would outwiegh the bad so the price doesnt really matter to me.

Did you really think a Microsoft spokesperson wasn't going to point out all of ODST's content to juicen up the deal for anyone who doesn't happen to have the Halo 3 maps?

I seriously want to hear your guy's opinions on Bioshock and Dead Space: 2 games with ONLY a singleplayer campaign that (in my opinion), had little replay value. How do they justify the $60 price tag then?

I can almost guarantee that playing ODST's campaign and Firefight will provide enjoyment for long enough periods of time that people will get their moneys worth out of it.

Many people seem to be complaining about ODST's pricing. It seems people have forgotten the days before online. All you would get in a game was the campaign/story mode and you paid the same price as games cost today. Now, what baffles me is people are complaining about ODST being full priced because it features the same online that you can get from Halo 3. The game features a whole new campaign (which in the old days is all you would have gotten), a huge new gameplay mode in Fire Fight, 3 new maps you cant get elsewhere AND all the Halo 3 DLC.

So what is there to complain about? Please people grow up and stop looking for the slightest detail to pick at. If you hate the price so much, I propose a revolutionary idea to you. Are you ready...? DONT BUY IT! OMG!

Discuss.
I'm not buying that game. I'm saving up for my PC. It's gonna run Crysis on full graphics baby!

lol, I'm just bugging. Yes, I would love to pay full price for this game, but I'd also like to pay less.

Even still, it's not that good of a game. You'll get bored, then become some stupid MMO junkie. :D

  • 07.06.2009 10:26 PM PDT

To Asgard...by the blood of our brothers.

I wasn't aware Bungie was physically forcing people to buy ODST.

Seriously, if you think $60 is too much, don't -blam!- buy it. It's that simple. More importantly, quit complaining, it's getting really -blam!- annoying. If you don't want to "pay for something twice" then don't. We'll have much more fun in Firefight and the new maps without people constantly complaining about the price.

I paid for Heroic, Legendary, and Mythic the day they came out. Why??? because I'm a fan. Now I have to buy them all over again to play ODST. Why??? Because I'm a fan??? It's like the guy who didn't kick in for DLC maps said, it's a sweet deal for him. What about the ones who supported DLC content??? Make em' pay for it.....Again. Nice. Anyways if I do end up buying ODST I will get it used from GameStop. I have never bought a "new" used game for $5 less than NIB because I like to support the devs. It's sad that Bungie is the reason I will bust this GS cherry. If I do buy it, I will have to buy the maps all over again. It's all good though. Their greed is the reason Gamestop will get all my ODST money. I get ODST and Bungie doesn't get squat from me. If you have a problem with this ODST issue I suggest you get the game used and cut Bungie/M$ out of all the profit. Combat greed by feeding the competitions (GameStop) greed. Bungie can toss my salad, they gets nada from mae!!!!.....Besides I will be too busy hosting my own dedi serv (on a 360 game!?!?!) and playing Section 8 instead of playing 4 hour campaign (sandbox gimmix won't have me wandering around with meh thumb up meh bum for hours on end) and HALOHORDE by the time ripoff ODST comes out. Prove me wrong Bungie, I dare you!!!....................Do you guys remember all the HALO speed runs bungie loves??? I want Bungie to sponsor one for ODST just so we can see how short the ODST campaign is. Best time should get recon!!!

spartan, are you a hippie? and if evryone buys a used copy, then how will the new copys become used becuz no one is buying them new, therefore, it would be imposible to get a used copy becuz none would have ever bee used, they would all be new. therefore, my logic wins, urs fails

There will be plenty of tools who buy it new and won't care for survival mode and sell it while the trade in value hovers over $30. That's when us hippies swoop in and scavenge the carcass!!! Like I said I will more than likely be playing and hosting 24 player matches on Section 8 to even be worried about firefight and the so called campaign. If S8 is good to keep me going for months I would probably wait to get ODST for $30 instead of $55. WTF did your logic win you anyways??? A ride on the short bus?!?!?! Yippie!!!!

Not a good point goatman!!! After 1 week every gamestop will have at least 1 used copy of ODST. Remember I'm counting on you good buddy to buy it new so I can get it used!!! See it all works out in the end for all of us!!!! Unlike your weak attempt at name calling and your fantasy doo doo logic. I win, You lose....uhhh I meant to say check mate you checker head!!!

Figuretivly speaking its the same bunch of newbies who moaned that you start with the AR they moan that the BR needed a change They moaned that Melee was unfair.

Aka the same people who made Halo3 matchmaking so stupid nowadays that unless you have a supercharged connection you are Screwed!

if anyone is riding on the short bus, its u. u are an idiot just like the other hippie noobs who complain about having to pay for somthing. besides, if u actualy break down the cost, the game it self covers $50 of the 60 total. the other 10 is covered by the second mythic map pack which means...gasp OH MY GOD, the other stuff is thrown in FREE. stop whining u idiotic dick-blam!-. if u got a problem with the cost, deal with it, bungie isnt forcing u to buy it. however, u say that u WILL buy it so that makes u a stupid hipocrite. get off of this forum and go kill ur self. nobody likes hipocrites like you. by the way, dont kiss ur mom, ive seen wat that whore does with her mouth

So what you are saying is expansions (continuation of older game using same old engine) should cost $50??? If I recall correctly Mythic 2 was supposed to be a bonus for purchasing ODST. Kinda like HaloWars and mythic 1. If thats the case then your precious expansion is really $60 which Bungie stated they don't feel the game as being worth the cost. Add H3MM and maps most of us already bought and own then all of a sudden it becomes $60. That's the reality. I could buy 10 copies of this game but why the -blam!- would I do that. I like BK Whoppers but I wouldn't pay $10 dollars for it...........As for Recon, the skin is already coded into H3MM. Bungie could unlock it NOW without ODST if they wanted to. How much is a locked skin already on a nearly 2 year old H3 worth to you??? Leading up to this question. How many devs actually charge people to beta test new games??? So now it becomes a paying priveledge to help devs to ensure MP games are bug/glitch free??? I thought that was figured into the final cost at purchase of Reach. No matter how you doo duh maf M$/Bungie is screwing over people who supported them since launch and rewarding those who didn't care enough to bother down loading content that is NOW required to play in most of the major MM hoppers. Ultimately the lesson learned is Don't expect a Fall Of Reach around while getting F'd in the A by Bungie!!!!!
