MJOLNIR SOLDIER

Agreed I'm fine with the price tag, actually I've already paid for it now I'm just waiting (only 77days left to go) but whats funny is its just a handfull of people complaining about the price over and over again over half the people on this poll were fine with the $60 price tag (so far 42% said $60 was ok and 13% said they were gonna get the $99 bundle with the controller) so while one guy wanted the game for free on account of all the steak dinners luke owes him I think the general concensus is $60 is cool and we all cant wait to play ODST . . . oh yea and Happy Bungie Day!

$30 dollars? That's chump change.......... I bought the map packs and you don't see me complaining about it.

Heaven forbidd you have to pay the same amount of money for 1 games, as you pay for every other game.

But for every other game we're not paying things twice. ODST seems to be the only one to give you something twice (which you have to pay for)

We're getting a brand spankin' new Campaign and an awesome new mode, Firefight.
The only thing we're getting twice is Multiplayer, but that's irrelevant, as this is an expansion, not a stand a lone game.

Do you even know if Firefight is awsome? You haven't even played it yet. To me, it seems like a Halo 3 version of L4D's Survival Mode, and that was god awful. And about the campain, a shorter campain than Halo 3's and Halo 3's was the shortest campain of all.

I'd just like to say that today, I went down to EB and laid down 20 bucks for my ODST preorder, and I fully intend to pay the rest come September 22nd. I totally agree with what your saying, and really, people shouldn't complain about the price hike when in terms of campaign we don't know what to expect, and honestly, Firefight looks amazing. Put it this way: Gears of War 2, which had plenty of features and was full priced, came with Campaign, Co-Op, Horde (read: Firefight) and online. ODST comes with Campaign, Co-Op, Firefight, Theatre and much better online, including three new maps (Oh, and maybe Forge in some measure) Honestly, ODST is worth more than full price.

Bloody Whiners

-Dont forget reach beta!
I think the Beta makes up for the multiplayer
I have bought all the maps, yet i dont complain do I, even if i didnt have them now i would still pay for them to use them for the wait till odst, ive probably spent a 100 hours on the map pack so i dont mind, and as someone else said id buy fresh cookies, but stale cookies are still tasty but dont expect to pay as much for them!

The gaming standards have gone up, clearly.

You get ALL the DLC? -blam!-, then why did I download them?!?! I spent 2400 M$ points on those maps. Thats $30!!
You downloaded them to play them earlier, it's that simple.

this is what people need to know

  • 07.07.2009 2:05 PM PDT

I didn't even know ODST existed when Legendary came out (as a matter of fact, no one did). So buying the maps was a big waste of my money. For all those who say "Oh, it's OK! I love wasting my money!" Good for you, but not for me.

-I was here

all u ppl do is rant about the price and how its just an expansion, well if i recall corectly, bungie announced it WOULD BE A FULL GAME. if u got a problem,go to wal mart and find some big NAME BRAND game(a sequel to a popular game or just some well made game) that just came out and look at the price. it will say 50-70 bucks. every game is expensive at first. and like the op said, back in the day, they charged an equivlilent price(incase u dont know, theres somthing called inflation and our econemy is in the toilet(U.S.)) for a game that had half as much content as odst will have. and like i already stated, it was anounced that the map packs would come with odst when they came out(even if u didnt know about odst, u should know that ALL map packs were eventualy going to be made free like the heroic map pack) now stop whining and saying its unfair, becuz odst is a full game worth at least 40 dollars on its own and then they're throwing in the 2nd mythic map pack AND acsess to the reach beta which combined = 20 dollars bringing ur grand total up to *gasp* $60 omg??? howz iz dis posibls?? and as for that other stuff, its thrown in FREE i repeat THE OTHER DLC's AND THE EXTRA DISC IS THROWN IN FREE!!! so stop whining, if u got a problem, stop filling the forums with price complaints, go make a facebook or a twitter or watever about the bad price, this forum was made for people to talk about the game and what they hope is in it and predict what will happen and help people learn more about the game, not how poor u r cuz u cant fork up 60 bucks for a game that will be worth every penny. now shut up and suck it up u whinney brats!!! if you've still got a complaint, shut up, no one but a few broke noobs care about what you have to say, everyone else couldnt care less and will probably continue to insult you.

ps. spartan 357(or watever the number is), ur mom is a whore and nobody likes u, go to hell, suck my balls, and go kill urself.

How is paying for something twice irrelevant? I know nothing is going to change, but I want everyone to stop with this crap and admit that we're paying for something twice.

One message.

Money. That's all there is to it. Fudged economy, fudged income, they want more and we want to give less. Green eyed monsters. Everyone.

look at it this way. either your not very good at games or that is a decently long lasting game i bought star wars force unleashed and it lasted about 3 hours and that was a 60$ game. i bought f.e.a.r quite a few years ago and didnt even last that long. the same with call of duty world at war it was not worth its money because it didnt last long....until the -blam!- zombie mode and bungie used firefight in te same way

You're forgetting that ODST, out of the box, has more content then Halo 3. And that was $60. And ODST and Halo 3, even then and now, have more content and features and support then most other games out there. So if you can pay for those, you can pay for this. In fact, we all deserve to pay double, even triple.

People are complaining because online multiplayer has taken over now. Campaign is where it used to be at, and still is for me. I <3 it, and I'd pay full price for ODST even without firefight, new maps ect. It will be epic.

It seems that trend is starting up once again since 2007's BioShock. And I'm serious. Reviewers have been picky over good single-player experiences ever since that game. As well, people who only play multiplayer and don't like the campign need to look at not only BioShock, but both Half-Lifes and the king of Halo games, Halo: Combat Evolved. While CE has multiplayer unlike the other two games, all three were praised based on their single-player experience, with some even stating that it's worth the $50 alone in the case of CE. As well, IW showed us that you can have a good SP and good MP with the original Modern Warfare. So I think that the single-player campaign trend is starting to comeback as the older gamers have gotten maturer and really don't want to play against other humans but want to have a very story-driven experience, which is what I like as well though I am thirteen (I state that since it is abnormal nowadays to like mature things when you are underaged unlike the good ol' days). So, to me, ODST is worth every buck (no pun intended).
Couldn't have said it better myself, Multiplayer, etc. etc. is great but nothing beats an truly incredible campaign experience.

I agree, people either get a job or save your money. You could also just wait for the game's price to go down...that's what I did for halo 3. If you don't like the price, don't buy the game and quit complaining...

You got them early. That's why. $30 is less than a days work, why would you freak out?

People will whine over the price of anything that isn't free and then once its free and people have they'll start whining how much it sucks.

"per audacia ad astra"

death to the bieberfever!

bungie wants everyone to join the online community (even to be playing on the dlc mappacks) because halo 3 is about almost 2 years old and... that means it's getting old (not saying it lost its magic :p) but... we gotta move on so they will be releasing the dlc to work on the other games like... halo reach/odst
for example gears 1 was played by alot of people and when gears 2 got released every dlc for the 1st one was free to be downloaded....
people need to move on

Many people seem to be complaining about ODST's pricing. It seems people have forgotten the days before online. All you would get in a game was the campaign/story mode and you paid the same price as games cost today. Now, what baffles me is people are complaining about ODST being full priced because it features the same online that you can get from Halo 3. The game features a whole new campaign (which in the old days is all you would have gotten), a huge new gameplay mode in Fire Fight, 3 new maps you cant get elsewhere AND all the Halo 3 DLC.

So what is there to complain about? Please people grow up and stop looking for the slightest detail to pick at. If you hate the price so much, I propose a revolutionary idea to you. Are you ready...? DONT BUY IT! OMG!

Discuss.

This post wins the post of the year award. It's not only true, but it just goes to show how spoiled and not disciplined this generation is becoming. Next to that, there is also a saying the old days used: "If you don't plan ahead, you're a -blam!- moron."

No, you didn't pay the same price. I remember a day when games cost $25. Now I could get four Wii games for the price of a Wii, ten 360 games for the price of a 360... need I go on?

ODST has a campaign (which will be shorter than Halo 3's, from what I've read), a new gametype, and three new maps. In what way is that more content than Halo 3? In what way does that justify paying for a full game?

Please note, I won't be purchasing ODST. I'm just asking how you justify the price.
