OK both discs give you a total of $50 like all other X-BOX games than it comes with Mythic part two= 800 MP which equals $10.

Could someone please explain to me why there are people who are happy a game is going to cost more money then promised? And why the hell they are defending Microsoft or whoever thought of the price?

What are they going to do, change it? Millions of people will pay 60 dollars for this game, which is why it is priced where it is. There's no point in trying to complain about something so small like this.

  • 07.06.2009 9:44 AM PDT

Not worth it...

Considering Bungie said back in December that ODST was coming out with every map pre-loaded. I don't think you can complain. They gave us fair warning. It isn't Bungie's fault you wanted to pay the $16+ for Legendary and Mythic when they said the maps would be included with ODST.

Your fault, not Bungie's.

The game was never promised as a 30-40 dollar title. At the time of the statement they viewed it as such, but as stated, the scope of the project has grown. And I don't think anyone is 'happy' that it is not 30 or 40 dollars. I'm sure everyone would be glad to save 20 bucks.

You are a prick sir. Does it make you feel good telling the Halo 3 forums that you have lots of money? Lmao, its pathetic. No one cares that you can make that money in a minute, no one cares that you'd spend $120 for it. All that shows is that you are a stereotypical dick with money and obviously even with that money you still aren't happy considering you act like a prick when you post and constantly feel the need to gloat about your money.

Perhaps you should heed your own advice and get over yourself.

Note this post was written with a smile on my face and not an ounce of angst.

How is 20$ a lot of money? Get a job.

Woosh!
Right over you head. You obviously haven't seen his posts before. Its not that I can't make that money, but it can definitely go to something new rather then buying the same thing twice.

Depending on what your buying. For a game, $20 can make a difference between a game that's over a year old, and a game that just came out.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

The only ones not questioning the price are just fanboys IMO, do you honestly think that most of this money is going to Bungie? Microsoft will be making the most money on your ODST purchases because of the price jump.

Bungie wanted to sell it for less than a $60 title, but Microsoft wanted to sell it for $60 because they know that Halo + Mindless Halo Fans = $$$$$$$$$$

And yet my friend who hasn't played any of the Halo games is buying it.

Do you honestly think that? Do really think that ODST's launch is gonna be bigger than Halo 3's?

Me personnaly I don't think it will.

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

I've played games that are worth 0$. I've played games that are priceless.

That math fails.

how is that fair?

last time i checked that would be considered a SCAM

The game is supposed to appeal to those that are offline and cannot get the maps. Stop your whining.

The AR is an awesome weapon, RESPECT IT AS SUCH!!!

why does no-one consider the ODST game itself to be worth $60?
originally, it was just an add-on, and now it is a full game. just accept the fact that the game by itself is a whole new game. the second disc, which everyone seems to agree is worth about $30-$40, meaning that the game should cost $90-$100. be happy that we are getting all the multiplayer stuff as a bonus and stop making pointless threads like these.

I could just tell you that you cannot assign prices to each individual game feature. That those sorts of things are purely subjective. But, seeing as you claim to know more about maths than everybody here, I didn't think that would be a grand enough gesture.

If the Mythic Map Pack is $10, that would make each map $3.33. Halo 3 shipped with 11 maps, so the maps alone, excluding the Matchmaking service and Custom Games and Forge features, should cost $36.63.

If the ODST Campaign costs $15, then Halo 3's campaign, being around twice as long, should cost $30. Which means Halo 3 should have sold for more than it did with just maps and campaign alone. It also means that the second ODST disc should cost $61.63 at the least (only the price of the maps have been considered).

Speaking of the second disc, if the first only costs $30 (and the MMPP2 $10), surely the game should only cost $40, seeing as all the other content has been recycled from the previous game and is owned by the majority of people who will buy ODST.

Short version: this argument fails.

You can also count it like this (Maybe it's simpler)
Halo 3 and ODST is priced the same (Isn't they? I'm not quite sure:P)

In Halo 3 you get: 7-8 hour campaign+Multiplayer+Forge+Theater+11 multiplayer maps

In ODST you get: 3-6 hour campagin+Multiplayer+Forge(I think)+Theater(I think)+Firefight+Firefight maps+ All halo 3 maps

Now if you don't call that fairly priced, well... Shut up..;)

For the second disc, its halo 3 with all it's maps loaded onto it, so no more going into custom games and having to load them for 10 mins every time i get on.

Halo 3 ODST is worth 60 $.
first disc:
Campaign = 15$
Firefight = 10$
ODST gameplay = 5$
30$

second disc:
Halo 3 matchmaking, custom games & forge = 15$
Legendary maps = 5$
Mythic = 10$
Mythic part 2 = 10$
40$
30 + 40 =70$
Also, it's aimed at those who don't have the map packs, and they're on the disc so quicker loading and more hard drive space. Don't forget the Reach Beta and theatre modes.
I don't understand how you go about estimating how much the Campaign, Firefight, and 'ODST Gameplay' is worth when you haven't played the game, none of us have.

Halo 3 matchmaking, custon games, and forge = $15? So we're paying for something we already have in our copies of Halo 3.

The only thing worth paying extra for is the Mythic and Legendary map packs. An invitation to the Halo: Reach multiplayer isn't included in the price. You don't pay for an invitation. You only get one by buying an early copy of the expansion pack/game add-on. I could be wrong about that, though.

An expansion pack shouldn't cost as much as a full game, period. It seems to me Microsoft, Bungie's publisher and owner of the Halo IP have $'s for eyes, believing cost and worth are two different things in order to squeeze every penny they can get from Halo's loyal fanbase.

I'm buying it without so much as checking my wallet if I have enough cash, but that doesn't mean I like the price.

Bouncing between here and Waypoint. When I get banned from one I go to the other,

Fairly priced maybe to someone who hasn't ALREADY purchased Halo 3, who hasn't ALREADY purchased the map packs.

In short, we're being forced to buy a package deal with 3 items when we already have 2 of them.
