I think someone else has already said this, but just to repeat, Halo 3:ODST IS AN EXPANSION. Why? Because it doesn't have it's own MM. It uses Halo 3's.

If it was not an expansion, it wouldn't be called Halo 3: ODST, just Halo: ODST.

EDIT: Just to make myself abundantly clear, you can not have a stand-alone game borrowing MM from another game, therefore Halo 3:ODST is an expansion, no matter what anyone says.

ah but you can have a full game w/o mm. so this is a bonus

Thank you for posting this. I am goddamn tired of the little kids who whine about an "expansion" being $60. they need to make the money. Hell, I payed EIGHTY DOLLARS for it here in Canada. It more expensive than in the U.S.

Children need to quit whining, and just NOT BUY THE game if they are that mad about the price.

Arbiduck... where in Canada are you from. I live in Calgary and EB is still selling it for 59.99...

Brandon, Manitoba. the Pre-Order total at EB Games came to $78.96.

THAT is overpriced.
wow...what's your PST? with GST here in AB it was $62.98 after taxes

Volenti Nil Difficile - To the Willing Nothing Is Difficult

these arguements are funny. dispite(?) the OP taking that article out of context he is still correct on saying that the final price for ODST is justified. yes OP this is a STANDALONE EXPANSION not a full game because half of what we are getting most of us already have.

now this may be off topic and i didn't read every single post so incase what im about to say has already been posted by someone else sorry. to everyone who has most of the maps (see i said most because there are still 3 yet to be released) y'all need to stop complaining and realize that yes there may be a large amount of people that have everything that has been released but there are just as much, if not more people that don't have any of the new maps or halo 3 at all. bungie can't just cater to the people who have everything Halo related but to cater to everyone. PERIOD.

also i would like to throw in here that a lot of FULL games have only a 4-5 hr campaign without really any extra content. So even without MM I feel ODST's price is justified.

I agree with you to a certain extent.

I bought a bag of chips. That was a week ago. Now I want to buy some cookies. Well I can't unless I buy a bag of chips again. Of course, there are some that haven't bought the chips. But isn't it better for those that haven't bought the chips to buy them separately if they want to? Instead of being forced to buy the chips with the cookies? This way it would help both groups. Those that bought the chips and those that haven't. That way, everyone wins and those that haven't bought the chips have something magical called choice, instead of being forced.

Short campaign built on old H3 engine + HALOHORDE=EXPANSION

I already have H3MM and all the map sans mythic 2.

Rental and if it so good I have to have I will buy it used pretty new from Gamestop for $55 so M$ gets no money from me. Try to stick me and I stick you back. I might own ODST and Bungie/M$ won't get a penny from me. I never in my life bought a new used game from GS because I like to support my devs. When my devs or M$ or whoever try and rip me off I will make sure that GS gets all the money.

I didn't buy WAW either.
I also believe WAW is BS based on the fact it is the same game with different skins and guns.

Seriously I hate how GameStop cuts the throats of game developers but when M$ tries and pull some crap like they are with ODST I will go with the "lesser of 2 evils" $55 for GameStop & ZERO for M$/Bungie.

then you have a valid argument for your opinion.

-I was here

bungie has stated that it IS a full game several times. why is everyone trying to contradict this fact?? maybe i should clarify on the definition of a game expansion. it is the addition of a new mission or 2 for the campaign and new multiplayer maps. odst has its OWN FULL CAMPAIGN, it has its own new multiplayer fire fight mode. an expansion to halo 3 would be a map pack. and for those saying it is just a standalone expansion, there is no such thing, its called a sequel(or prequel) because it doesnt need the other game to work. an expansion NEEDS the original to work. bs police is a retard and so are the people who agree with him

It only became a "full game" after they decided to add H3MM and maps I already bought and own.

  • 07.06.2009 4:11 PM PDT

get on my level!

So when you buy the game do you play the multiplayer on that game or play it on halo 3 and all the maps transfer over or what?

A full game is a subjective term.

Assassin's creed: 12 hours of gameplay
GTA4: 40 hours of gameplay
Halo 3: 8-10 hours of gameplay

Which is a full game? All of them. In other words, Bungie could view a full game as 6 hours. I wouldn't, but they would.

It wouldn't hurt Bungie to say how much it has grown. I, as well as you (i'm sure), would love to know how longer the campaign is.

ODST will come with Halo 3 multiplayer. Why do you think it doubled in price? Because it's a real boy!? Oh Pish posh.

  • 07.06.2009 4:15 PM PDT

Why does Bungie put us through such avid anticipation?

It means that it's still an expansion, but it's a very nice and large expansion.

this guy is right, stop whining about the price, if ur worried about it, dont buy it. the price IS justifyd and also there ARE several full games with short campains and no multiplayer. have you ever played call of duty on the playstation? they dont have multiplayer. oni had no multiplayer but it was a full game so to the guy who said games with out multiplayer arent full games, you are a retard. and besides, odst does have its own multiplayer, its called co-op campaign and co-op firefight multiplayer(multiplayer- capable of having more than 1 player)

  • 07.06.2009 4:24 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Does it expand the Halo 3 game? Yes? There you go.

Longer campaign? Schweeeeeeet. I always love playing FPS campaigns, especially when I get together with a friend and we work on it on Legendary.

Also, I would happily pay full price, $60, for this game. Or in my case $65 since I preordered it, but that's fine with me too.
