Halo 3 ODST WAS a standalone expansion when it was just you playing through the campaign in a linear fashion back in September of last year when it was said it would be $30-$40. However, as you may have noticed, they changed that. Now it is hub-stylized game with 4+ "flashback" missions, not to mention a new game mode called Firefight, plus a key to unlock the beta to a whole new game, along with 3 new Halo 3 maps.
The halo 3 maps were extra, and based on Halo 3's price of $60, you should be thanking Bungie for their price.
Let's see:
Full campaign: $40 (price it would have been if just that)
Firefight: $20
3 New Maps: $10
--------------------------
$70 bucks right there. Whoa! Its more than sixty dollars. Your already paying less than you should. Now add,
halo 3's shipped maps: $20
Heroic map pack: $10
Legendary Map pack: $10
Mythic map pack 1: $10
-----------------------------------
Now its $120! Wow, that's, like twice the price you're paying! Dang, thank you Bungie for being so nice and making us pay only half of the original price! We should just shut the hell up about prices and just not buy it if we are such cheapskates.
End of Thread. :)
How is firefight 20 bucks? Firefight was already in ODST when Bungie, the creators, said they thought their game was worth 35.... When they said that they meant Campaign and Firefight.
Regardless, it would end up as $100, and that's still more than it's actual price. I can see how the argument then would be "But then ODST is only worth $40" which has some validity, so it could go either way based on the point of the argument.
