Do you think it would be a good idea to be able to delete you own threads and posts? Would this actually be possible?

-Just a thought.

The best thing you can do for now is to edit your post with a message to us, telling us to delete it. Deleting your own posts would be a good way to get around blacklists at times, so being able to have any user delete his own posts may not be the best idea.

How about all those messages getting recorded into a log. Say, for instance, you say something offensive and can't think of a way around it or you accidently post something and want to get rid of it altogether, the moderators can have a log of the messages in the forum before they were deleted. Let's say someone does call for a serious blacklisting. He deletes his post. You, however, can open the log, view what he posted, and still blacklist him.

Great idea but seems like even more stuff for the mods to do. Best approach is (IMO) to edit and apologize if it was blacklistable........May the mods have mercy on your soul.

Well, they don't know when a moderator will be around, so they wouldn't really risk it would they? even if a mod isn't around, there are plenty of members that can report it.

The problem is when proof is needed. I would suggest screenshots, but screenshots can be faked. *sigh* i don't know. I'll think about this...

If someone ever says anything inappropriate, I always quote them. That way if they edit their post, I still have evidence of what they said.

Quotes are much easier to change than screenshots.

Absolutely true Josh. We're all lucky to have our intelligence, but having none is quite unique I suppose :P

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Great intelligence. Heh.

I mean... yeah! I wish I could be as smart as you.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

How about a Delete request? You click on request delete, and then it goes on a list that Mods can see that it wants to be deleted. If it sent a PM, instead, then the people would use it to SPAM attack the Mods. (They get enough of that already from what Rip has shown me).

Yeah. The problem with that is what you've explained already. It would just build on the amount of work the moderators have.

I just ask a mod very politely to delete it for me. I just say " I know I made a mistake and Im sorry. Id really appreciate it if you deleted this post for me. I wont do it again." If that doesnt work, they all take bribes.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Maybe we'll let them have a little bit.
