I've sketched this in my mind quite a bit, but playing as an actual flood combat form in infection would be cool. There could be an option where the alpha zombie is a pure form, and since pure forms can create infection forms, one at a time, why not just spew out one every time a player dies. Once that player dies, the pure form regurgitates an infection form to infect the host's body, so that the player now plays as a combat form? And then once the combat form blows up or dies, he just respawns like he would normaly? Maybe make a new combat form model for a Spartan, and make it like the Spartan and/ or Elite that was infected, actually has the same armor schemes and symbols from it's former self?

I found this a while ago as I was browsing through the net. They also have a custom made grunt combat form model, too, somewhere on the web. So maybe we could use a similar Spartan Flood model for Spartans, when they become infected, except a whole lot more realistic with the infection form, skin and armor detail.

**EDIT**

Oh no, in between respawns the NPC flood infection form automatically goes to the corpse. It's not player controlled and can't be harmed as it makes its way to the corpse. This would be during the respawn countdown. Then you get back up as a flood combat form. You automatically regurgitate the infection form if you're the alpha zombie (pure form), once a player falls to a zombie.

I mean, you could metamorph into a range form or tank form, with different buttons on your controller. I just want the game of infection to be a bit more realistic, instead of just regular Spartans and Elites with energy swords. Instead of the zombies meleeing with their weapons, they melee with their extremly deformed arms. And being that the pure forms can't wield weapons, their melee damage is upgraded as tank form, as well as their stamina.

YES EVERYONE, THIS IS FOR INFECTION, THE GAMETYPE, NOT FOR THE CAMPAIGN. EVERYONE THINKS ITS FOR THE CAMPAIGN. IT SAYS INFECTION AS THE TITLE.

I didn't read a single word of it,
but considering the humanity first encounters flood AFTER the events of reach, how could you possibly play as one???

edit :
well, your idea somewhat reminds of alien vs predator 2 with lifecycle on (you start as a facehugger when playing alien and if you hit another player it's an instakill).
and it wasn't such a great thing. more like very annoying.

yea. I bet humans wouldn't discover such an extremely infectious lifeform in their own stronghold.
so either prove it, or don't make a fool of yourself :/

Heh, I'm putting this post up with the original post I made, so people understand where I'm trying to get at.

Geez he said may, lighten up. The forerunner facility under CASTLE may have held a Flood sample.

If you remember correctly, the humans couldn't find their way into the Forerunner facility under CASTLE base (it required a mere blood sample as shown in First Strike), and that the Flood would logically be locked away within this or another Forerunner facility, it is possible that the Flood were only unleashed during the battle of Reach.

Thats a pretty cool idea. Doubt that will happen though.

Sorry, I think you meant to go to the Left 4 Dead forums. Here's the link.

Honestly, do you really believe Bungie will do that? Considering that the Flood wasn't seen at Reach? And that the UNSC did not know they existed?

Well we don't know when the UNSC learned of the Flood (it could have been during Halo 1), or anyone who encountered the Flood on Reach could have been killed, or unable to communicate with UNSC command (glassing interfered with Fred's COM, so it would probably do the same for anyone else's).

My script would include the Flood and still remain canon... and fun.

Wow... Just wow.

He didn't say anything about Left 4 Dead. Stop being so narrow-minded please. Thanks.

Anyway, OP you have a good idea going dude. Hopefully Bungie will read it.

In Left 4 Dead, you can play as zombie and survivor. That's where I believe he may be getting the idea. Catch my drift?

I've read bits of the script... not all of it. What chapter has the Flood? Also, using the "can't get to command" thing is exactly what Halo Wars used.

You mean... like in Infection? A Halo 3 gametype...?

But you implied that he was directly ripping off the idea from another game, even though the idea seems original, and has nothing to do with zombies. You'd be experimenting with Flood forms.

So Infection has nothing to do with zombies? Neither do the Flood? The idea isn't original. Playing as the zombies may seem original, but Left 4 Dead did it first.

And plus, in L4D, every time you spawn, you spawn as a different zombies. Don't consider that experimenting with the different zombies?

Actually, I knew about that you could play as a zombie in L4D, but I don't have the game, so it didn't come to mind when I thought of it. But still, this is for INFECTION, not campaign. So infection seems more realistic, instead of actual Spartans and Elites carrying energy swords. CoD: WaW took the idea for their Nazxi Zombie Game from GoW's Horde Mode. They are both great. It's not copyright if they don't have the same character models and environments. It's giving birth to new ideas. How do you think we got all of these FPS games? From ideas, from the first one. It wasn't a whole bunch that came out at once. There was an original FPS game that birthed the others.

Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of War... None of these games would have existed if it weren't for the first generation of shooting games. So in a way, these next gen shooters have adapted from the very first shooters. If they all were totally original, they would have their own genre.
