in halo i noticed that all of the enlisted men call Master Chief a sir, when in fact he is not a sir. In the military when u call someone a sir the means two things, one are an officer, and two they make a helluva lot more money than u do. Master Chief is in fact an NCO(non-commisioned officer) and the highest rank he can go before he hits Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy or a warrant officer- but Spartan 117 wouldnt do that. I think that in halo 2 they should get the military code and regulations correct.

and why does master chief always hang out with marines, the navy is better.... we have SEALs

While I'm not quite sure how the ranking works, and who should or should not be refered to as 'Sir', the one thing I am sure of is how I would react if a walking tank came in my general direction.

It is made clear that the spartan program is both a revered and hated program, but regardless of a certain persons belief of wether the program is 'good' or not the fact remains that the spartans are one tough group of combatants. I can only imagine (and hearing some of the comments in the game "hey, it's him...") that Master Chief definately has a rep. that precedes him. Knowing his reputation and just looking at his massive size I would tend to be a little more respectful in his presence due to that alone.

Because Master Cheif hates to be on ships during battles, and he was trained for ground ops.

are't marines navy ground forces? Maybe that's why all the naval ships have marines on them.

Because there aren't any Navy ground forces or even infantry in Halo. Oh wait, they're called Marines.
