There is probably already a thread that answers this sumwhere, but im too ignorant 2 look through all 300+ pages. neway, is it a good or bad idea to go on http://www.alienware.com and customize/build ur own gaming pc or should you completly build your own?
another thing, does anyone with a good knowledge of pc's think that there is a catch to this: http://www.dabs.com/uk/productview?quicklinx=14XK or will this give me sweet, hassle-free, 8mb transfer rate?

I've never bought an Alienware, though I've looked into it before.

Consider: A PC that would typically cost $7,000 from Alienware would cost about $2,500 if you bought all the parts seperately off of newegg.com and built it yourself.

If you put together computers like you put together sentences, then you'd probably be better of buying it from Alienware.

Or you could just hire some guy or girl to come and assemble your PC for you. Or you could take it into a computer store. I think it's worth saving $4,500.

Do me a favor... Look at the top of of the topics list where all of the "sticky" topics are... now open and read the one that is titled "how to build your own PC". Now wasnt that easy?? You are on your way to building your first computer all by yourself, and the best part is the fact that you save about $2000-$3000 by doing it yourself. Or you can still save by buying the parts yourself, and having a computer store owner (like myself) build it for a service fee of about $50-$60 dollars. You will still save over $1000!!! Just think of all the great games you can buy to play on your new killer PC gaming rig with $1000!! Or if you want to prove to your friends and niehbors that you are a "smart guy" you can just ask my help on what to do when you have all the parts and we will walk you through your first computer build. Now isnt that easy? But hey... if you like people to rip you off for computers.. and load software that you really wont want on your computer.. and want to pay 3 times as much for hardware.. Go right ahead and buy that alienware... I will be looking forward to you and all the other people who bought one and want to upgrade it (cause alienware will cost and arm ans a leg to do it for you), and I will pity you as you give me the "alienware ripped me off" story (trust me I have heard it MANY times). So the choice is yours bud, and dont think that because you are young or inexperienced that you cant build a computer.. Any one can, and I am here to help.

I dont know why you would spend 7000 dollars on an alienware. I just bought the new Area51m extreme laptop and only spent 3200 dollars. This system will be able to play any game in the world.
