I've been really out of the loop and before I pose a question I'd like to ask this one.

EDIT: Since the main character isn't a spartan, why is the visor orange?

In that case I'd like to ask why is the visor orange? I know that in halo 3 it is, but so is the ODST helmet.

Doesn't Orange block UV rays?

Not that I'm aware of, but really, why?

EDIT: With the amount of smoke in the sky and complete lack of sun, I doubt that matters.

Dare is in ONI, ONI is the Navy, it could be possible that she's in some kind of Special Operations. Like Special Opertaion in the Marines are ODST, Special Operation in the Navy are RECON.

Noobs can't handle AR/Pistol Spawns.

Why does it matter?

This is why the spartan visor's are gold. In space, and on low gravity planets, there is little or no ozone to protect your eyes from solar radiation. There is no actual reason for Dare to have a gold visor, unless her suit is designed for zero-G.

Why doesn't it matter?

EDIT: to make my post less redundant then the one above me. I will say that I don't see any reason for it being orange. It doesn't "matter" in the sense that it won't affect gameplay, but unless there is a reason, story-wise. It will bother me.

Its a COLOR, get over it. It really doesnt matter what color the visor is. This topic is extremely useless. /enddiscussion

Is a discussion on the fact that bungie should go back on their word and not give anyone who gets the achievements recon? or a poll as to wether or not you're getting the game useful?

This is a question about the color of the visor because I was curious, it didn't make sense to me. I wasn't freaking out about it, I'm not nervous about it, I just didn't see why it was orange. No, this topic is useful to me, I learned something that I didn't know earlier, what's useless is your reply.

Also it's /thread not /enddiscussion and if it was, it'd be /discussion.

It's not just a color. It's gold for a reason.

Duracell.
I don't keep going and going and going and...
but i Start, and just don't Stop.

So what if the saxophone is black?
it has better tone the the gold one.
damn straight i play Jazz.

it looks good. it's a game, it doesn't really matter. the gold visor is just the colur they picked for her armour. why is here armour blue not black or green?

To the OP:

Just because you see a relation between her and the John 117 does not mean she is a Spartan. Or anything of that matter, the Spartans are a group of super soldiers with armor created from humans. They give out the best armor to their soldiers that is why there is a relation.

WHY DO ALL OF YOU HALO FANBOYS BUG THE HELL OUT OF RELATIONS IN CHARACTERS?

People, understand. The gold isn't only for looks. It has a practical application. I.E. blocking solar radiation. Spartans have gold visors because their armor is designed for Zero-G in outer space. The only reason Dare would have a gold visor is because her suit is designed for Zero-G.

As said before, Better safe than sorry, I don't see a use in a visor at all except blocking radiation and the suns rays. So why not be able to block both?

It wasn't that I saw a relation between her and John, infact, I didn't due to the lack of complete gloves and loose armor. Making this thread, I knew nothing about her. Which is why I was curious. The only relation I saw was an orange visor, which due to having seen the books in chapters and other book stores, I've attributed to all spartans. I assumed she was like everyone else but with a recon helmet, under that assumption, I didn't see why the helmet visor was orange. I figured it might be because it was in halo 3, but then, the ODST helmets in halo 3 were also orange.

Bug the hell out of relations in characters?

Who is she related to?

Also, as a side note, about the zero-g thing. Why is her suit not sealed then? her fingers are exposed.

This will be the third time I said this in the thread. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY. Would you just want to protect your soldiers with JUST uv ray protecting visors, or get the best of the best and have it protect from solar radiation?

  • 07.08.2009 9:05 AM PDT

There is no ozone layer in space. Which means there is much more solar radiation. The extremely thin gold blocks the solar radiation. The cost would be enormous if everybody had gold visors.

Cost does not effect the Halo Universe, Maybe the humans found a planet that is VERY high in the mineral of Gold. Don't try to put today's standards into the Halo Universe.
