Good idea, but as a lot of people say, it looks overpowered. I like it, but would add either more recoil, or have a 'warm up' like the turret, where it starts slow but gets faster.

I think the Battle Rifle would be perfect for a starting weapon

I see this working by just giving the ma5 a single shot fire option.
The first shot almost always goes where you aim it up to pretty long ranges (even across most large maps) the automatic fire is what wrecks it.

Allow it to switch easily between auto and semi auto and you have an excellent starting weapon

also you have to allow it to get headshots in semi auto mode.

actually after seeing it in Action the M6C/Socom would make a great starting weapon.

combine the power and scope of the br with the rapid fire of the ar

Without massive recoil this would be insanely overpowered.

but imagine how ass it would kick?

So pretty much what I'm getting out of this is AR with more range and a headshot capability so that when your spraying across the map they instantly die since part of the reticule will most likely touch at least their chin? Cause if I'm understanding that right...then it will beat all other weapons in the game, regardless of range...no need for nades, melees, power weapons, or AR/BR, just get the whole package all in one....

Here is the solution. Make the Current Halo 3 assault rifle more accurate (Give it the reticule size of the BR, the first shot goes in the center, the rest are randomly dispersed within that circle).

Now that we have accuracy down, so now it is a real short-medium range weapon lets get in the specifics:

35 round clip
14 rounds to kill
10 rounds per second

Now that we have that here is what I feel is the most important part:

Make it sound like a real friggin' assault rifle.

Oh yeah, in vision, there are no weapons that have a special head shot capability (besides the sniper and rockets maybe)

When an opponent is fully shielded, head shots cause 1.5 times the damage that a regular bullet would do. When an opponent has no shields, head shots do twice the damage of regular bullets.

So if you somehow manage to land every shot from my proposed assault rifle above, it would take about 6-7 shots to kill some one.

No matter how many times I forget about this place, I always get dragged back.

I'm more than okay with that.

Yes. It would kick quite a bit of ass. But to keep games balanced you could only really have one on the entire map that respawns every 5 minutes or so.

Just because a weapon will be ridiculously powerful at long range and easy to use doesn't mean everyone should have one.

I personally like sidearms as starter weapons. They have headshot capabilities, but aren't too easy or too hard to get kills with.

This is why I like to start Halo 3 games with the M6G, for example. 5 headshot kill, but not quite as easy as the BR 4-shot to pull off.

too powerful little bit weaker and less accurate

Signatures are for squares.

Unless this was a campaign only weapon, this would be overpowered as hell.

So you want to add a Chansaw gun to Halo?

Verbose, as usual.

not so much. Its a slower kill than most weapons. It doesn't have a scope like other long range weapons, and has a much slower rate of fire compared with close range weapons. Its very, very accurate so that if you miss shots its mostly your own fault, not the fault of random bullet spread, and it does headshots so that it rewards accuracy more noticeably. Its fully automatic to make it easier to attack vehicles which drive too close to your position, and it reloads much faster than other weapons to give a slight perk to a spawning player who is trying to gain additional ground.

I wish this was in the game already.
