I've never used XBC because our family comp is in a room that's
too far away from my Xbox, but I'm thinking about getting a laptop
and running the link cable to my Xbox or using a wireless hub.

Anyway, here are my questions.
Is XBC user/newbie friendly? I wan't to be able to play against
good players so I get better, but I don't want to struggle to find
someone that will tolerate a "n00b"
Is it fairly easy to get a good connetion? (below 100,
I'm on DSL)
I know about bullet lag, but from my understanding, if you can
win with the lag, you can dominate on LAN.
My question regarding bullet lag is how long do you think it
takes to get used to it?

Last one.
How is XBC compared to gamespy tunnel? I used tunnel once
a long time ago and got a good game about 1/7 tries. (by good
game I mean ping-wise)

It would have sucked to buy a wireless hub and find out that it's
no good for XBC. There was a lot of stuff in there that I needed to
know and didn't ask for. Thanks Chino.

That adapter sounds awesome! I don't know if I'll be able to afford
it, but it's definitely something I'd like to check out later.

No43, you can change your Xbox name with certain games. I did it
when I rented DoA3, but now I can't change it back. =(

It isn't hard to find a ping below 100 on XBC but your ping isn't near as important as the upload the host is putting out. Usually you wouldn't want to join anyone with less than a nice cable connection. Ping is also due to how far you are from someone and with XBC Pro you can find players closest to you.

Xbc isn't noob friendly for the most part, you can find games where players aren't that good, but for the most part a host will win even if he's not as skilled as the person joining. The host on average in team games has about a 15 kill advantage thanks to the pistol lag and so forth. Many times a decent player will seem like an elite on his own host. However playing on XBC will make you better at LAN because you have to learn to pistol very very well in order to win on other's host.

Also I wouldn't suggest using a wireless network, just get a very long cable. You can however buy a wireless adapter but as far as I know they don't work well with XBC.

Overall on XBC if you join games you will be playing against players who are better or at least seem better due to the lag, I find about 33 percent I own, 33 percent it's good games with, and 33 percent that owns me on their host. If I Host the percentages swing heavily in my favor. Also many good players ask for noobs to join just so they can win easily, be sure if you are playing someone and want to have competetion to find out if they're legit. If you have any more questions just mail me at shadedhalo@yahoo.com and I'll be glad to help you out.

If you have doubt in your skills behind your guns, XBC is not the place you want to start at, even the people that call themselves noobs there can keep up with me. I'm no elite but im pretty good. You may want to start out were the true noobs seems to play with a few inters. Kai Xlink Evo. VII is a good place to hone your skills before attempting to challenge the better players. XBC is great i love it but most of the people on there seem to want to play CTF BG which can be fun but they always seem to have the oddest wepon configs and 2v2 is not very fun. While on the other hand Xlink is filled with people that just want to play, yeah a bunch of CTF's pop up but create your own and people will join just to play.

The only bad experiencce my friend and I have had with XBC was the time we played a 2v1 and lost. OF course the guy claimed to have beaten a true pro (im not doubting him but you never know) and beat us 26 to 50. Our ping wasnt really a factor. We just sucked. I recommend learning where the power ups are on all maps and try getting a timer. There are a lot of whores out there. Dont be afraid to get the rockets....nobody else is. If you want to play teams, try and have somebody on your screen with you. STICK TOGETHER. Not too close be not so far away you cant give him/her backup. Other than that, enjoy every minute of it. Learn from every game and remember the people that beat you so you can come back and play them over and over until you are satisfied with yourself. Experience can only help!

The guy who calomed to beat a true pro: McShake. Please, if you know anything let me know. I am highly interested in this person. If you have played him, how did you do so I know how much my friend and I suck. Thanks! {:()

I've played against McShake and no he isn't THAT good.. He's an upper level intermediate. If you and your friend lost it doesn't mean you suck, it means he was more than likely hosting which is a huge advantage, even in playing 2v1.
