The title says it all.

What you're about to see is supposed to be a demo reel from a contract animator who is working on Halo Reach. In the video, you can see an UNSC soldier beating a Jackal to death.

The clip was uploaded to YouTube by Will Christiansen and posted on his website http://www.willchristiansen.com/, but it has been removed and replaced with a new clip that doesn't include the Halo animation sequences.

This could be the very first animation footage from Halo Reach:

I have no clue why there are clips of another game in there, but the actual animations are pretty cool. Notice the UNSC marines armor? Looks quite a bit the like the center character in the banners armor to me.

NOTE:.....I'm probably going to get permabanned for this link. Oh well.

[LINK REMOVED BY OP.]

Discuss. Do you think it's real? Fake? Why the hell is there a clip of some Dragons?

It's apparently a link to a guy's portfolio, hence the dragons. It's probably ODST footage to be honest, just dumbed down for liability purposes.

I thought that at first, too. But, notice that the UNSC Marine is holding a Battle Rifle? Those don't appear in ODST, remember.

Well, also consider that just because the work is in his demo reel doesn't mean it is part of the project. It could easily have been his "audition" that he sent in for them to take a look at -- something Halo-themed for them to get an idea of what he'd be capable of within their engine.

I won't deny the significance of it, but I wouldn't hold out for this kind of thing either. There have been a lot of incredibly innovative subtleties like this that are unfortunately cut in order to make room for other things with more importance, so even if it is the sort of thing we might see, it could easily change later on.

I'm not sure if a mod is going to lock this, since it isn't technically a "leak", but you might want to take the link down since the guy removed the video and re-uploaded a new version. If the content wasn't meant to be public, it probably doesn't have a place on this forum.

Challenge me to a Hawaiian Punch chugging contest. I dare you.

$.50 in store credit.

I say fake. He made halo animations, probalby by himself, to show what he could do. I doubt he would be allowed to post the animations if he worked for bungie.

I think I'll do that.

But yeah, I also don't think this could be real, but interesting none the less.

Some can come away from reading "War and Peace" thinking it a simple adventure story, while others can read the ingredients on a gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

Post the link again!

Battle Rifles didn't come around until Halo 2. Since Halo: Reach is a prequel to Halo: CE, I doubt it will have battle rifles either.

That's possible, but they could still include it without breaking canon. Contact Harvest is set long before the events of Reach and Avery has the Battle Rifle. If Avery received a prototype model for testing, it isn't that far-fetched to consider the possibility of something similar involving whichever Spartan(s) is/are involved in Reach.

In fact, I think it'd be pretty funny if marines could react to what weapon you are holding. They could marvel at it for never having seen it :D.

For reference, I actually hope the BR is replaced by something in Reach.

@ EVERYONE

The Battle Rifle existed before Halo 1. The only reason that the Battle Rifle didn't appear until Halo 2 is because the Pillar of Autumn just happened to not have any on board, my guess is because it was an older ship. It's the same reasons that you didn't see Brutes or Drones in Halo 1, because the covenant fleet was an Elite fleet and elites deemed brutes inferior and probably felt the same way about Drones.
