So this game is supposed to take place weeks before the event of halo 2 in new mombassa? And if so, the jump the covenant did was right when halo 2 was occurring. I'm a bit confused can anyone help me out

No, this takes place during and after the New Mombassa event.

I was in 5th grade. I popped in the Halo CE disc into the massive, clunky first generation Microsoft Xbox, and wrapped my small hands around the controller that was almost too big for me. Little did I know what I was getting into.

10+ years later, I still look up to my childhood hero, Master Chief, while everyone talks about He Man and Spongebob haha

Precisely, seeing as how you get knocked for 6 hours right after the slipspace jump.

The 6 hour gap also explains many things. Clever Bungie...

In the press conference Joe Staten says (when showing off he demo) "Welcome to New Mombassa, weeks before the start of Halo 3." correct me if im wrong but the whole halo series takes place in a time frame roughly less than a month. And halo 3 started only a few days after the events of halo 2 right?

No, the slipspace travel from Earth to Delta Halo took several weeks.

And that... is the correct answer.

Slipspace isn't instant. It takes time to move across galaxies. :)

So it took weeks but for the people traveling it, it was instantaneous?

No, the cutscene skipped all the time in between the jump and the exit. So it did take several weeks, but it wasn't shown.

there was no indication in the cut scene that they had been traveling for some time. they jumped, they came to a sudden stop, and there was delta halo

Do you know anything about Halo besides the games? Read the books, it'll do ya good.

Well that is what happened, but it still would have been nice if they made it a little more obvious. I.E. "3 weeks later" in the corner or something.

I should not have to read a book to understand a game, and i agree that they should have made it a little more obvious
