i dont see why people are listing the halo 3 multiplayer component as a reason to justify the price. stating that the halo 3 multiplayer is worth $10 is ridiculous considering i already have it! we should not be paying for something twice. is that so hard to udnerstand?

sure the maps may be worth $10, but the halo 3 multiplayer should not be used to justify the price. and as a result, it seems apparent that ODST is overpriced in my opinion.

J23: Ready 4 Anything
We must move forward. Learn, Improve, Evolve

Stop complaining because your cheap, it's a full game that comes with 2 disk, one being the campaign and Firefight and the other being the Online Multiplayer, the Halo Reach beta and maybe something else

  • 07.09.2009 4:04 AM PDT

:P

Foman is awesome!

This would be better on everyone if they gave us a goddamn option on the 2nd disk. and the Variant with only 1 disk(ODST) will be cheaper.

No, it isn't. Not in any way, shape or form.

Not that I don't respect opinions, but would you like to provide any proof to how he is "right?"
He's right because a new, short campaign, one new gametype (without new enemies) and three new maps are not worth $60. They do not make a full game. To add insult to injury, Bungie/Microsoft are adding in Halo 3's multiplayer, maps, etc, to try and justify the price. It's a pity I already have those things...

@ Everyone who is complaining about having to pay for the multiplayer component.

It costs money to make the multiplayer component and to implement it to the game, and in order to make profit from that component they must mark the price, and if you whine about having to pay for the multiplayer again, simply Don't buy the game, and wait for it to be available on the Xbox market place (In which I'm pretty sure was mentioned to happen, otherwise prove me wrong [It will be helpful to many others to know there is/not going to be a downloadable version])

Ninjabag the tea-pirates!

I don't want to join your group.

You don't already have the 3 new maps, they're new.

But wait, haven't I already paid for this multiplayer component? Why yes, I think I have! Also, it will cost them a neglible amount to implement the multiplayer aspect in ODST, beause they've already made and sold it all they have to do is burn it onto another disc!

and if you whine about having to pay for the multiplayer again, simply Don't buy the gameDon't worry, I won't be.

It will be helpful to many others to know there is/not going to be a downloadable versionJust like it would have been helpful for many others to know that they're going to have to pay for the same thing twice if they want to play ODST?

I swear, everyone who says this is actually the same person, or they're retarded. No, it's not a full game.

I meant a DLC version with only the Campaign and Firefight mode(My bad for not mentioning that). Not sure about the 3 exclusive maps though.

EDIT: Oh, and another reason Bungie implemented the multiplayer in is so that you can finally play Halo 3s multiplayer without the loud humming of your 360 spinning the disc, so they fixed that performance issue.

EDIT2: NVM the MP downloaded to your HDD I was proven wrong :P

Try to stay positive and relax guy. :D

Well let's compare it to other "full games" and see how it stacks up.

Ghostbusters is $60 and has not co-op campaign and only has survival modes for multiplayer. Any movie games comes out at $60 and will be done quickly and have no real replay value. Prototype and a lot of other single-player games are $60. Halo 3: ODST offers more even if it didn't come with the Halo 3 multiplayer. Crackdown was $60 and was nothing and was paid for because it offered a beta to Halo 3. Halo 3: ODST offers a beta too, but it's not a waste as buying Crackdown was.

Halo 3: ODST is a new game. Campaign in a way we have never experienced, a survival mode with a leaderboard, a beta to a completely new game. That's worth $60 right there, the multiplayer disc is just an extra.

  • 07.09.2009 5:28 AM PDT

Why the hell are you guys moaning?

You are NOT being forced to buy it!

If it costs too much to you then DON'T buy it, SIMPLE!

I would buy that (assuming it was reasonably priced).

Well let's compare it to other "full games" and see how it stacks up.
Firstly, the fact that other games are a ripoff does not justify ODST's pricing. Secondly, many other $60 games have a much, much longer campaign than that of ODST (from what I've read, ODST will have a campaign under 10 hours. As a comparison, Prototype has well over 10 hours of content in single player alone).

Halo 3: ODST is a new game. Campaign in a way we have never experienced, a survival mode with a leaderboardI would pay around $30 for this alone.

a beta to a completely new game. You don't raise the price for a game because it includes a beta. Beta's are a free extra and are for the benefit of the devlopment team. They are not a product to be sold.

That's worth $60 right there, the multiplayer disc is just an extra.Wait, so a campaign (under 10 hours, from what I've read) and a new gametype are worth $60 to you?

You can actually say 10 hours for something no one has played? Other than an RPG, what is going to give you over 10 hours?

The campaign is the same as Halo 3, everyone is acting like they will only play it once. We know this will not happen. And again, there are games that offer less for the same price. It should be less, but people forget the Halo franchise is Microsoft's main seller, they know to push a higher price. And Prototype is also a completely open world game with a huge environment, like GTA IV, it should be well over 10 hours.

You're right, a beta does not raise the price, but it does make the game more valuable. The addition makes it feel like a must have to consumers, just like Crackdown.

Point is, people pay the same amount for worse and get disappointed. The people complaining about the Price of Halo 3: ODST are the same people swooning over a new campaign and survival mode, they need to get over it. It's not changing. Don't like it, don't get it.

Don't forget, ODST is an open-world game.
You can play the missions in any order and god only knows the amount of easter eggs Bungie has implemented throughout New Mombasa, and the number of enemies in the city which could be endless (who knows).
So gameplay could be a lot longer than what Bungie has mentioned.

I just wouldn't consider it as open as games such as Prototype, Assassin's Creed, or GTA IV. I do expect there to be some type of collectible since it is open world adding more playing time.

This is the one and only reason ODST is $60. Microsoft know that millions of people will buy it, regardless of whether it's overpriced or not.
