Subject: Wait... so Halo 3: ODST is going to cost the same as a full game?

I think that people are underestimating the amount of time you can spend playing "firefight" as someone who has played Gears of War 2's Hoarde mode I can tell you that it is amazing and is one of the greatest new inventions in multiplayer gaming.

Though before someone rips my head off I do agree that ODST is overpriced for those who have already bought the Mythic, Legendary, and Herioc map packs but don't forget that there are people out there that for some reason can't purchase the maps online. Like my friend., I won't go into why he can't download the maps but the main point is that he can't, but now with the maps being shipped with the game he will finally be able to play in playlists that he can't now. So for him ODST is definately worth the 60 bucks but for someone like me and i'm guessing a lot of other people who purchased the maps are getting cheated out of some money but honestly if you can't put up an extra 20 bucks to buy an expansion to a game you already love then chances are there are more serious things in your life that you should worry about then how much ODST is being sold at.

It's not Hip-Hop, its Electro.... prick.

Where have you been? Yeah, it's a full game. 60 bucks

Magic is magical, so are shoes... Along with plastic.
Don't forget to flush the toilet, because -blam!- stinks.

I just wouldn't consider it as open as games such as Prototype, Assassin's Creed, or GTA IV. I do expect there to be some type of collectible since it is open world adding more playing time.

I agree, but there's also the possibility of enemies just lurking around the city at unexpected times.
This also is an FPS Open-World game which hasn't been done recently
Sure, I know that it won't compare to the more open type games like those you have mentioned due to ODST not primarily relying that it's an open-world game, It is driven by the flashback missions and the mystery of "where the hell are my mates???" .
Well since this is a standalone expansion i consider this pretty big for how what they are offering.
Don't forget the scale of some stages for Firefight, the Johnson screenshot level seemed huge, I can't imagine the scale of any other other levels Bungie has implemented

They just want to make money... And as long there are enough people that want to waste their money they will continue their "marketing"

Howdy

Halo 3:ODST is a full game. and comes with another Disc that you can use if you lost your Halo 3. So well worth the price.

Are you kidding me? Same game engine, same enemy models and animations for the most part, likely a huge number of recycled textures and sounds? Sounds like an expansion. "It's the length of a full campaign!" is no defense, it took a hell of a lot less work than halo 3 did for the reasons stated above, it comes with less maps than the Halo 3 shipped title, which is irrelevant anyways since much of the community has already purchased the maps available on the disk, and firefight, while admittedly cool, does nothing to justify the price either(Protip: It's essentially a minigame, and not a difficult one to create at that, as successful networking code for cooperative play with multiple enemies was already in place for halo 3.) Bungie is making a full title releases profits from an expansion. Get taken kids.

Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty 5, and Modern Warfare 2 all use the same engine. So, using your facts, all of those are expansions. So is Gears 1 and 2, so is L4D 1 and 2, so is Call of Duty 1 2 and 3, so is Bioshock 1 and 2, so is Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2, so is F.E.A.R 1 and 2, so is all the NFS games, so is all he Rock Band and Guitar Hero games, so is all the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB games.

So, almost every sequel ever made is an expansion, using the facts in your post.
