Do you want fall damage back?

Pros: When the Banshee is locked on by the missile pod, the pilot can't just bail out with no consequences.

Cons: Removes many tactical jumps on maps, such as jumping down from Avalanche's bases.

Discuss.

YES. I say it should only be half as harsh as in Halo 1. If you crouch at the right time, you can negate or lower the amount of damage. If you land on a steep enough slope, you won't take any damage.

Say you jump off of an Avalanche base to the snow. You lose 1/4 of your shields. But if you crouch at the right time, you lose no shields.

This would actually make jumps more tactical.

I thought so too, fall damage added a nice dimension to the maps originally. I want it back personally.

I agree with Cheehwawa, bring em back just not as harsh. H1 jumps sometimes were annoying that you'd die from it. Also the crouch thing should have an animation or something to slow you down a bit when you land, so there still is some kind of penalty for jumping out of an airborne vehicle/ off of a building.

Fall damage was harsh, but sometimes you deserved it.
It should be slightly nerfed.

I think that fall damage should be an option, default for matchmaking, but can be changed for custom games. It would allow for very verticle maps to work with capture the flag, as the team that spawns on top won't be able to reach the bottom alive.

How far one should fall before they get hurt is debateable however.

Another thing, how would fall damage work with the mancannon? It throws you pretty damn high...

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

No. If Cheif survived that fall from space, he can survive falls from within' the atmosphere. Even if you're not wearing the Mark VI armour, fall damage just isn't fun. You shouldn't be able to receive fall damage from any place you can get to from jumping alone. You should only get fall damage from jumping from Banshees or other aircraft, or if you grenade jumped somewhere.

I was in 5th grade. I popped in the Halo CE disc into the massive, clunky first generation Microsoft Xbox, and wrapped my small hands around the controller that was almost too big for me. Little did I know what I was getting into.

10+ years later, I still look up to my childhood hero, Master Chief, while everyone talks about He Man and Spongebob haha

Even though I am a fan of fall damage from Halo 1, there's really no need for its return. It would remove too many movement options such as the mancannon and there isn't really many times you fall from a dying height.

Remember, this was before Halo was even discovered, so you'd at least take some fall damage, especially if Bungie includes the part before the Spartans got their dubs...

Make fall damage take into account both fall height (determining damage taken) as well as angle (horizontal, like from a mancannon, gives none, while vertical, like from a cliff, gives damage). Simple.

I would like an option with a bunch of height details. Like 100 foot fall damage so people falling from Banshees die. The fall damage made players more aware of their surroundings, and forced them to fight down certain corridors without jumping to escape. In some way it can be used to extend the length of certain maps.
