It would be boring to just shoot through piles of covenant. So what's the difference between levels? Ooh scenery...

You guys have got to stop with the canon or not crap. So what if the crew of the POA didn't know about the flood? Maybe it was top secret classified information. Seriously, did you think ONI would boardcast to the diminishing human population, "Hey fellow humans, we just discovered a new lifeform that is more deadly than the covenant! And they want to wipe us out!".

If any of you read the FOR book, you'd know that UNSC moral at that time of the war was at an all time low, no one needed to know about this new enemy that isn't even much danger at that moment.

No you will not. At the time of the Battle of Reach, the humans had not discovered Halo. The Flood only reside in the rings, so you will not be seeing any Flood in Reach.
You are wrong about teh flood buddies only being on the rings. There was also flood in the threshold gas mine, were they not?

Incorrect. Check out Halo Wars or Halo 2.

No. Humans lived on Reach for a long time. If the Flood was on the planet then the UNSC would have known about it later. And if it is going by the book there definitely won't be any/

actually if you would have read the first two halo books or atleast played halo 1 you would know that the flood was first discovered on halo 1. thee reason there isnt any on reach is because they would have already broken out and infected the whole planet. thats why the forerunners trapped all the flood into quarantine zones on all the halos. just delta halo is the only heard of halo that had an outbreak that wasnt caused by outside forces.

If you heard of Halo Wars, you would know that the Flood were not only on Halos, they were also on planets. The Flood could have been locked away in a Forerunner facility, and one (or five) of the nameless Spartans who fought on Reach (we don't know their story yet) could have stumbled on them, and the Covenant could have let them loose. Reach would have already fallen, so there's no way for the UNSC to know (orbital bombardment interferes with communications) and all humans who encounter them would have either died, or been separated from the main forces... like the Spirit of Fire in Halo Wars.

they made an exception for halo 2 because the first halo lacked a flood research facility. thats why the forerunners put one on threshold. and i dont even think that halo wars fit in with the halo storyline. for one thing the unsc would have reported the flood so that they would know how to fight it when on halo. also none of the spartans went to a place like that planet on halo wars. and since the crew of spirit of fire aparently never reported something as important as the flood to the rest of the UNSC that also leads me to think that halo wars is wrong. since the flood was first discovered by humans on halo 1.

Halo Wars is canon. The reason the UNSC (all of them aboard the Spirit of Fire) didn't report the Flood, is because they were lost in space after the game. There was no way for them to communicate what they found. The same can be done for Reach (even though it wouldn't even be needed since a warning message, if it could be made out during the bombardment, would not reach the PoA before it crashed on Halo).

ok but the planet that the flood was on in halo wars was a forerunner planet. remember the inside had a sun in the middle. but dont you see a trend here. the flood are only on forerunner installations. reach wasnt a forerunner planet. it DID have forerunner relics on it.

How do we know it wasn't a Forerunner planet? Onyx was, and we had no idea until the same year Reach fell.

I'd say no. Like the others if there had been Flood on Reach, you would have known about them pre-Halo 1. But who knows, maybe those mysterious beings we call Bungie will think of some new distgusting, freakinn annoying, yet freakin cool foe for us to fight aside from the Covenant. my moneys on the later.

Sorry, I can't hear them over the sounds of Modern Warfare 3 on my Turtle Beaches.

I don't think Flood will be present. I believe the game will be based on this battle here:

http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Battle_of_Reach

And reading the article, it appears that the Arbiter from Halo 2/3 will obviously be an enemy.

Interesting.
