Obviously the AR is a terrible starting weapon. Its only good close range ( deadly used by a smacking nub)and takes absolutely no skill .When using a AR I feel I have to resort to nub tactics and restrained by range.Because the AR takes slightly longer to get a head shot any highly skilled player with a BR will always take u down in 4 shots and your only shot is to smack . This being said its no hidden fact that the AR problem needs to be solved. So here are my thoughts on how the AR should be altered.

1.Lengthen the range of the AR by 12-16 feet so people do not resort to running straight at u and smacking( not to long of range though...that's a BR).

2.In result of added length to the AR , I think the dmg should be reduced maybe 20-30 percent depending on what works best for gameplay......OR (maybe lower the dmg of the ARs melee dmg like 10 percent ).personally I think melees with all weapons would hurt about the same thouh in RL.Smaller weapons faster swings.Bigger weapons slower swings but more weight.See?so theyd hurt the same IMO

3. I think the AR should definitely have less auto aim to where u can actually "out AR" or "AR dance" with sumone (dont get me wrong the auto aim is good but if they take a lil off the auto aim better players can show their difference in skill with this weapons auto aim being reduced).

P.S. Anyone notice with the AR as soon as u lock on to sumone U start moving slightly slower? Perhaps this can be changed for more agility for "out ARing" sumone

I agree.But not everyone can use the BR well. So"vetos" dont always happen .So I think its about time for a real solution.

How about instead they increase the range.

Add a moving crosshair forcing players to burst, and teach them about bursting the rifle in campaign. Equal out the bursting in gameplay to make it fast paced, but not a chore like it currently is in Halo 3.

Give the weapon a weaker melee damage to help keep people from bullet hosing the weapon and charging.

No offense but that idea would only work in campaign. . When 2 players go at eachother this type of game engine "or whatever ud call it" would favor who ever gets the easier moving aimer. for the short time being. plus ,because different sensitivities would work different.idk Just seems too out there and probably make me alil dizzy and hurt my head.

But lowering the AR melee dmg seems understandable.

My god. The AR is already overpowered as it is. Reduce the damage by at least 25%, as is.

If the AR's effective distance was to be upped, reduce the damage by at least 35%.

You might like the AR more if you used it correctly. Its not a headshot weapon so aiming for the head makes it less effective because the head is a smaller target. Try aiming for the body next time

I do agree with lowering the auto aim a bit and if what you said is true about movement taking that away. Although I feel the power and range for the AR is pretty good.

i dont aim at the head the whole time just the last second friend . U dont feel restraint with the AR when everyone at high lvl ts has br/snipes and u dont on the pit?

You're not supposed to want to keep your starting weapon. its supposed to be good enough to manage with, but your supposed to want something better. in that situation you have to close the distance with cover and grenades or just last until you can pick up something better

Try but Sumtimes the Br gets stolen and doesnt spawn soon enough and a guy is looking to snipe me not to far away, but too far for the AR u got now.What now? if the starting weapon didnt matter it would be an smg again.

- keep the AR damage the same
(think about it it takes basically an entire clip at slight ranges and only kills quickly at short ranges)
- increase the range to make it a short mid ranged weapon
- decrease the size of the reticle/crosshair
- decrease the auto aim/magnetism
- decrease the power of melee or implement momentum melees from previous halos
- maybe increase the clip size if neccessary after these settings have been tested

this will increase the learning curve of the joke that is the current AR considerably

also shouldnt this be in the halo 3 section?
