i know wat u were thinking its not the chief. in the trailer they say slip space rupture the chief drifts twards whatever planet he is headed for. and in the trailer they say "its them" refering to what came out of slip space the chief is not a them he is a he singular.

He's right if you see at the begining of the trailer it looks extally like the lendary ending to Halo. He might be singual but he might have came with them.

let's imagine you are right (it's a stupid thing to do, but let's imagine it).

what does it mean?
MC travels back in time. so if he changed the course of time, then he won't end up on the ark and won't travel back in time, right? so he won't be able to go back in time, so he'll go on the ark. but since he went on the ark he'll go back in time and change the course of time, so he won't go on the ark ... etc

time travel can't work.
and lets drop that idea : lets say it's the same planet. so what? reach is glassed. nothing is left on the surface. that's hw to make an exciting game, right
