There is a certain point of tolerance that should never be reached.

It is 5 30 AM where I am at.
So I am not going to make this complicated.

Halo Combat Evolved was, to me, an evolution in gaming.

But, Halo, once again to me, does not feel evolved.

To that matter most multiplayer games do not feel as complicated as I would have hoped to have had by 2010 (Which is getting very close)

I am a HUGE halo fan. I have been since I was a wee child. But I feel that the gameplay needs to stay as fresh as the story.

I think, in my opinion so don't go flaming "LAME IDEA NUBZ0rZ, HALO ARE TEH L33T ALREDI3Z DNT CHANGE IT OR I WIL HAT3 BUNGI3 FOR3V3R!" Because that is poor behavior and will be ignored.

But I ask.

Why not change the formula up a bit?

I am not saying Americas Army, but why not make the game more realistic, or just make it easier to die so that it is more intense.

Here is an idea I just though of.

Button sequences. Like God of War style.
You could add it to jacking vehicles, Hold RB to jump, tap B to punch,Press A to get in.

Failing to Tap B in time results in the Person being Boarded to knock You off,Failing to Press A in time would result in Falling off of the Vehicle leaving it unoccupied. Maybe let the person getting boarded play it to and that way it becomes a "Who is faster" game.

Maybe offer a Gametype where your armor effects your stats.

NO I don't want Slayer to change.

Maybe enable an option in all gametypes to disable/enable armor stats.

Scout armor makes you faster
CQB makes you stronger
EVA makes you better with Vehicles

Is the system perfect?
No
But it could be tweaked.

Hell you could have it where each individual armor perm does something different.

Scout chest makes you take half EMP DMG.
CQB takes half physical dmg.
EVA Ches makes Boarding option prompt come up sooner

Every idea I posted doesn't have to be implemented.

But the thing is I personally want more options in Halo.

My ultimate fantasy:

Full map editor
Custom game finder
Gametype modifiers such as Armor perms specific player traits etc etc.
AI in multiplayer (as with the map editor I know it isn't going to happen, but it would love to have the ability to make a make where flood are randomly swarming. or a KOTH match where you are being rushed by elites and hunters.)
Custom paint for player models. Including every color possible, plaint anywhere, stencil anywhere, emblem designers, emblems anywhere, design share.

I know this won't happen.

But the thing is, Halo has always felt so fresh.
Even now when I am in the middle of a match I will sometimes pause and think " I could rush with my Shotty, hang back with the BR, fallback and regroup, go get the rockets and go rambo, get the warthog and go on a killing spree or..."

As a fan of Halo I know it is important to keep this title a Halo title.
I am not saying change it so much I don't know it is Halo anymore.
But it would be nice to have the option to play regular slayer or KOTH on a map full of grunts that I made in like 30 min last night and was a little tipsy from the Captain to really think it through but hell lets do it anyways.

Some new options will lead to what halo does best, community designed insanity.
With Forge and Saved films (Something the modding community on PC has had for YEARS in a way better state) has given us some amazing things with it's limitations. With more tools the insanity and fun will only get better.

Love the different armor perks idea (but like make it a different gamemode because some people would probably still prefer every person's armor being equal)

I don't know about your idea of the button sequencing...imo it would seem a bit too chaotic in battle to even think about button sequencing when bullets are flying, grenades exploding...etc.

Also like the idea of random AI in multiplayer lol.

Great ideas though! (I'M A HUGE HALO FAN TOO!)

Proud frenchie, elite fan, anthro artist not hellbent on yiff convention/pics/whatever, mature and intelligent forum guy, 4chaner, halo 2 lover and halo 3 hater.

I like the QTE idea. AT LEAST, a board =/= being hijacked 100% of the time. it'd add some randomness and I like it.

oh btw... forget the full map editor thing. there's halo in the title, you won't get something that'd allow you to make free content. M$ won't be able to have your money.

Button Sequencing = No
Dying Faster = No
Armor giving you special treats would be fine as long as it were an option that was off by default.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Dying faster yes... Halo for me has always been to thankfull with how much damage you can take, even on Legendary, somthing like Vegas 2 but with shields would be perfect, so you loose your shields and youl die in maybe 2 or 3 shots from ANYTHING, it mwould make the game more intense and make you play smarter

There is a certain point of tolerance that should never be reached.

Sorry if I was a bit incoherent on my post, It was a bit too late for the intricacies of new ideas be coming from my mind. I was brainstorming ideas. I think that Halo will have more ideas because people are always wanting more. I was thinking of simple (and yet complex) Ideas of how you could change Halo and make it better, and still feel like Halo. The buzzword I utter? "Optional Options" I was thinking about a gametype where you are easier to kill, you can customize your weapons (name stencils, Camo, emblems, Scope, Variant. etc.) and your armor could act similar to Perks from CoD.

Yes I know this is not Halo CoD.
But why not add an option to play Halo with more diversity?

I am not saying that this "Should be in it or Bungie is stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!oneoneone!!!!!111
But why not have more options.

I am sure that there is something that I have listed that appeals to everybody.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

Honestly when it comes to things like FPS games, it is far too easy to overcomplicate. Basically too many features and too many tweaks don't change the game for the better. Now if you change up the gametype to a tactical FPS or something a little different (but announce it's difference) then perhaps some of the changes your thinking about would make sense. However if you kept things as an FPS, and made radical change (believe the changes your asking for aren't slight in terms of gameplay) you would have a very pissed off fan base.

Personally I was hoping for a departure from the FPS genre and an introduction to something new within the Halo universe. Perhaps a 3rd person game, not so much a cover shooter like Gears, but just as insane and chaotic as those games can be. I dunno, I too hope for something fresh, but if your being realistic you cannot keep presenting fresh ideas without eventually making drastic change. I'm sure this game will still deliver, Bungie isn't stupid and i'm looking forward to seeing what direction they go with this one.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

That boarding button sequence sounds like a good idea, and it would make boarding vehicles more interesting. Better than just the same old boring thing, anyway.

i think they should take the AR out and either leave it out or put in something like an smg bc the AR is a bullethose its just too easy to use and it takes a half a clip to kill someone. also the beat down should not do as much damage and should be more like halo 2

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

Sorry to say this, but if you want realism, and basically a simulator of real combat, play Call of Duty.

Hmm. I like Halo the way it is. Bungie knows what they're doing and they know that making Halo too realistic or too complicated would destroy some of its fun factor. Sure, I agree that adding a button sequence to the process of boarding vehicles would make it more challenging, but nobody wants that because, when it comes down to it, Halo is a game about shooting things and blowing things up. End of story.

Having said that, I do like your idea about including AI in multiplayer, however I think Firefight already fulfills this fantasy in a way. If Bungie were to include AI in regular multiplayer, I don't think it would work well on a lot of the existing maps, so it would have to be included on select maps only, that are specially designed to accomodate AI and large enough to provide some wiggle room. In addition, if Bungie were to include AI in multiplayer, they should be treated as neutral parties that hunt down both teams with equal regularity. It would be a horrible idea to treat them as "AI bots" that are allied with a particular team, as this would destroy the interpersonal relationship between teammates that is so pivotal to the Halo multiplayer experience. After all, it's a little hard to joke around with an AI bot. =P
