-.-' i didn't say you HAVE to read the books to understand the story. I'm just saying that it HELPS in linking the knowledge you have from the books with the game.

I know what you said. You're still using it as a reason to wrongfully judge a game we know nothing about. There are a lot of story details that go missed throughout even the trilogy games. Should we feel that those should be judged the same just because the more intricate details require more in-depth reading? That's a silly thing to use to say that Reach won't be an amazing experience, because that's just the way they develop their games in this franchise whether it be a prequel or a sequel.

Josh Del Toro

I Believe...

If you read the book, MC is there, they explain how he came to be the soilder he is today. It was an epic book. I honestly would rather seee it as a movie than a game though. I have no doubt that Halo: Reach will be an awsome game! AND LEAVE HALO WARS OUT OF THIS! Just cause you cant keep up with it oh so confusing story line doesnt make it a bad game.

Thanks for the 10 years B.

and halo wars was carp you know that. Your just saying it was good cuz its a halo game.

To me, I think Halo Wars was pretty good, but I didn't like how they didn't tell the story right.
(Spartan didn't have energy shields back then. O_o)

Kick start a craze

I hereby declare the winner, or should I say winners of this forum to be everyone who isn't the OP. Congratulations all around! For coming in first place your ideas will not be flamed and will even receive support from fellow members. However OP, for taking second you will be criticized for your ideas and no longer welcome to take part in any halo reach conversations.

Halo Wars has been the only prequel released so far, and that sucked because it was a strategy game, and made by a different developer. Wrong move there. But how does this mean that every Halo prequel made from now on will, without any shadow of doubt, be one hundred percent rubbish and the single most worst-est horrible-est video game of all time?

wes smith

k 1- how are they killing the story, by making prequels they add to the story, buy telling things that we don't know yet

2-while halo wars was crap IMO though the cutsncenes were top notch, bungie did not make it, maybe if they/someone makes a halo wars for the pc they will make it so u can put bases anywhere, surpirses ensmeble didn;t since they made the age of empires games

3- the chief might not be if and i mean if they go the way of the book where the whole game is the fight on the ground of reach when the cheif, james and linda are in orbit on the ship

4- they prob would do a "halo 4" where it continues after halo 3's "cliffhanger"since they'll know it would make them a -blam!- load of money even though they said halo 3 was last of trilogy they could make another one

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

So before it was halo1,thehalo2,then halo 3. But all of the sudden they are killing the gameplay by making prequels to the game. They are killing the story, why cant bungie just make it simple by making sequels. Like seriously was there a need to make halo wars. Why can't bungie just make sequels like they did before. Now its all like before halo 3 but after halo 2(odst). Before Halo 1(Reach). And now i am hearing that the main character mastercheif isnt even going to be in reach. Seriously he wasnt in halo odst, halo wars and maybe reach. Please tell me your opinions.
That is a big Giant LOL.

Bungie ruined Halo 2 with Duel Wielding, and they killed the story with Halo 3 becuase there was none. As far as I'm cocnerned this game will have a better story than Halo 3.

I don't like your logic at all BS Police.
OP, game prequels helps expand the back story of a game, not ruin it.
Sounds like you didn't read the Halo novels.

well, it makes the story confusing. Why wouldnt you want to add to the story. Why would you want want to add background information.

Why wouldn't you want to add to the backstory? Were you dropped on your head as achild?

You do realise that you can't go further than the 60th minute in an hour right?

Yeah ok, maybe not in Canada...

Wow.. Bungie is expanding the gamers view of the Halo Universe. Unless you sit down and read the books you'll never experience some of the coolest moments in Halo History. I think what they are doing is fantastic.

  • 07.09.2009 10:44 AM PDT

This kid's 14th in Europe. Don't even bother calling me bad.

bungie didnt make halo wars

  • 07.09.2009 10:48 AM PDT

Im the best of the best and better than the rest....

Umm. BS Police how is the Halo 3 story bad it was the conclusion to the halo trilogy. I think it beat Halo 2 story. Since you were having to play as the Arbiter half of it.

But Games such as Halo require acuall brain power, i know you may lack it, but don't play if you can't think about the story corectly, and Halo Wars wasnt even made by Bungie

Playing as The Arbiter was the best part of Halo 2, it greatly expanded the storyline through the eyes and actions of the Covenant and the Arbiter was a more in depth character than the Master Chief.

The removal of the Arbiter as a a playable character simplified the story in Halo 3 to the point that the first half of Halo 3 does nothing to advanced the plot.

Why don't you level 50's out there, when you finally decide to apply for colleges...why don't you put that you were a level 50 on your application. And put it on your job resume, too. See how much it matters, and how much people care.

Halo isnt all about the master chief.

also i played and really liked Halo Wars.

At first glance, yes the Arbiter is more in depth. With Reach, hopefully, the Chief will get his dues and open our eyes to the depth of his character. With the experience from the game, I think we as Halo readers and gamers will appreciate the fact more that Master Chief wasn't the only Spartan and he lost friends and experiences emotions too.

Bungie started with gnop. should they have just stuck with that too?

Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"

You want my opinion? You know very little about what you are talking about:

1. There have been prequals in the form of the novels, that flesh out the story quite a bit.

2. Wars was not made by Bungie, different dev means different direction. The story actually makes sense if you've read Contact Harvest.

3. Not liking an RTS or being confused by something doesn't make it bad it just means that you are not a fan of the gametype (nothing wrong with that), and that you don't understand as much as you could about the story situation.

4. Reach has already been confirmed as an FPS game.

5. Finally, Reach is more than likely about events that have already been written, meaning things that have already been explained. There may be small differences here and there for the sake of gameplay, but for the most part Bungie doesn't re-write their history. As such the chance of their being huge alterations to the actual story, not just what is shown in the games, is very slim.

Your argument makes no sense. I'm just saying that if they are going back to Reach for their next game then we should assume the Chief will be our man. John was basically the center of attention.

He was only there for a small part of the battle, the majority of the fight for Reach took place during the events of Halo 1.

Yes he was in the system. but he was not on reach.
i doubt he will be the main character. and i actually doubt he will be in the game at all. partly because im pretty sure bungie said they were done telling the master chiefs story, and because i don't think the game is going to follow the story in the book, and follow a new story that was happening at the same time in another location on reach
