your just saying halo wars is good because it is a halo game. SHYTTY GAME

Console gamers just don't have the patience and skill to enjoy a strategy game I guess, even a simplified one like halo wars.

What a way to stereotype.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

It's not a stereotype, it is very accurate statement. Wars is probably the best console RTS game ever made. It cannot stand toe to toe with a PC RTS, but that is the point. Most consol gamers, specifically most Halo fans, like nothing more than mindless slayer (as is evident by the playlist traffic). Things like objective driven game and games that require a little more forward thinking that a typical FPS go against the grain.

a prequel kills the story and gameplay? well... that's news to me.

I'd actually say it ENHANCES the backstory, and it can also UPGRADE the gameplay, why would they take a step backwards?

nobody knows if Mc is in reach. and even if he is not, so what? it's still a halo game.
lastly, HW was a great game.

i agreed with everything up to that last part w/ halo wars

You do realise that you can't go further than the 60th minute in an hour right?

Yeah ok, maybe not in Canada...

Your argument makes no sense. I'm just saying that if they are going back to Reach for their next game then we should assume the Chief will be our man. John was basically the center of attention.

and he wasn't on reach until after halo 1
Yes he was in the system. but he was not on reach.
i doubt he will be the main character. and i actually doubt he will be in the game at all. partly because im pretty sure bungie said they were done telling the master chiefs story, and because i don't think the game is going to follow the story in the book, and follow a new story that was happening at the same time in another location on reach

John was on Reach long before Halo 1. Thats where he did all of his training under Mendez with the other Spartans. Bungie said they were done adding to the Master Chiefs arc. Reach is already a big part of the Halo storyline and the Chief's arc. I will be surprised if John isn't playable in the game. I'll be surprised if John, Fred, Kelly, and Linda aren't all playable. I'm kind of reluctant to say Sam because he dies early on, but if we get to experience the Spartans battle against the rebels then the odds of playing as Sam increase. Hell, maybe even Kurt for a mission or two.

It's true just the truth, but less stereotypical version:

Most console gamers don't have the skill or patience for a strategy game because they shut it off if they haven't shot something in the past 5 seconds, even a simplified one like halo wars.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Great argument there OP. Mixing opinion with logic is always nice, y'know, because it proves everything.

And if you don't like Halo Wars, don't blame Bungie. They didn't make it.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

Don't say you're one of those narrow-minded people who think that Master Chief should be the only playable character in the series... There should be other main characters too, it's a big universe, with loads of heroes. Master Chief is just one of many.

Halo Wars came by popular demand for a Halo themed RTS, although there was a mod for Command and Conquer Generals before that codenamed Halogen. Microsoft saw that the mod was very popular and ordered the makers to shut down their mod and make way for Halo Wars. That's the story behind Halo Wars.

And about killing the story, they did that with Halo 3. Resurrection can be an option though, they didn't kill it that much.

And now i am hearing that the main character mastercheif isnt even going to be in reach. Seriously he wasnt in halo odst, halo wars and maybe reach.

Apparently you don't know the Halo storyline well enough. Master Chief WAS at Reach, and you most likely WILL play as him at some point or another.

But I do agree that this should be it. Too many amazing game titles have been ruined by shoveling out too many games.

But all of the sudden they are killing the gameplay by making prequels to the game.

So tell me, when did you discover your ability to see the future so you can see Reach gameplay? Or are you talking about Halo 3: ODST? Which, by the way, has the exact same mechanics as Halo 3, therefore if you think ODST is bad, you think Halo 3 is bad.

They are killing the story, why cant bungie just make it simple by making sequels.
This is idiotic. Killing the story? They're making it worthwhile! Hardcore fans have been begging for this for years on end, and Bungie's satisfying. What more is there to want?

Like seriously was there a need to make halo wars.
Talk to Ensemble, they're the ones who made it. Oh wait, they're closed, nevermind.

Why can't bungie just make sequels like they did before.
...because they only made a continuous train of two sequels because it was always intended to be a trilogy??

And now i am hearing that the main character mastercheif isnt even going to be in reach.
I don't think this was confirmed whatsoever. He'll likely have a cameo, I'd think.

Seriously he wasnt in halo odst, halo wars and maybe reach. Please tell me your opinions.
My opinion is: "whiiiiiiiiine".

Oh My God... He's got a gun!

dude... srsly... a sequel to halo 3? I doubt there's gonna be any. We will be lucky if we find out wtf happened to the chief. Other than that, halo 3 did wrap up nicely. The Pre-quels will now explain the rest. Also the books will do some of the story telling.

  • 07.09.2009 12:28 PM PDT

I think it's that they're covering what story plots they missed. OR they're trying to answer question that were left unanswered by the ending of Halo 3. It's your call and I leave everyone to their own opinions. Take mine for what it's worth.

  • 07.09.2009 12:29 PM PDT

I hope they don't make reach for campaign but put all their effort into multiplayer, i could care less about campaign i already read the book.
I hope they do this
10-20% of time spent on campaign
80-90% of time spent on multiplayer
but that's just me and I'm sure Bungie will have a great story but its the multiplayer that's going to keep the game alive, just look at Bioshock, Mass Effect or even [Prototype] which had a multiplayer but it was canceled.

  • 07.09.2009 1:18 PM PDT

The whole Halo saga is EPIC. I think it is great that they're finally getting into stories of other people in the Halo Universe. Chief isn't the only one who did amazing things to fight the Covenant. ODST's are badasses to the core, an augmentation short of being Spartans themselves. Now we get to play one. And there was a time when Master Chief wasn't the only Spartan. Now we get to be there too.

And like the first guy said, it enhances the whole story.

And another thing, after Halo 3, Bungie said there would be no more Halo games with the Chief. No more sequels.

Sieg Zeon

crymore why dont u,the reason they are making prequels is so u can learn more about the actual story and more about the halo universe, rather then pulling some half ass crappy game right out of their rear with stories that wouldnt work well with the other games, and also u do realize that halo wars wasnt made by bungie right?, it was made by Ensemble, bungie just helped with story and charcter models, besides that bungie didnt have much to do with halo wars

Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

The Halo universe is bigger than MC. MC is an awesome character and the anchor of the Halo franchise, but to me his story is over.

Does that mean they should throw away the amazing universe they created? I couldn't care less if they do 100 different side stories. It all works.
