So before it was halo1,thehalo2,then halo 3. But all of the sudden they are killing the gameplay by making prequels to the game. They are killing the story, why cant bungie just make it simple by making sequels.

I know, prequels just take too much thinking to understand. The very concept of something coming before something else is baffling. Besides, who wants to think while they play a video game?! We all know the true gamers only care about mashing buttons and killing people in multiplayer. Heck, let's do away with story-driven campaigns all together and make games only about multiplayer! After all, reading, thinking, and discussing things like plot and character development was so 1990's. This is the 2000's, we want our games to be 'pro' and only be about 'skill', we don't need a plot!

Obviously (hopefully at least), you caught the sarcasm. If you can't fathom the fact that a prequel comes before an established story arc, then I feel for you. Prequels serve a valid purpose, they explain events than had an impact on and lead up to those you are already familiar with in the current series. While sometimes they can be simple money-makers, other times they can greatly add to the overall story experience of a game, movie, or book. Since neither Reach or ODST are released yet, nor do we know very much about plot specifics for either, it is both unfair and foolish to so easily and handily dismiss either.

you seem to be confused, 1. Bungie didn't make Halo Wars and 2 there's no point of a sequel the story is over didn't you play halo 3 remember "it's over"

I hope they don't make reach for campaign but put all their effort into multiplayer, i could care less about campaign i already read the book.
I hope they do this
10-20% of time spent on campaign
80-90% of time spent on multiplayer
but that's just me and I'm sure Bungie will have a great story but its the multiplayer that's going to keep the game alive, just look at Bioshock, Mass Effect or even [Prototype] which had a multiplayer but it was canceled.

Well i actually prefer...
10-20% of time spent on multiplayer
80-90% of time spent on campaign

I loved the Halo series (and followed it) for the campaign and storyline not for multiplayer but as you said, it really matters on personal opinion, i guess thats the way just i look at it.

Ok 1. I hope you realize Bungie didn't make Halo wars. 2. The war is over The whole halo series is about the covenant war and about the halos. The ark was destroyed meaning. There is no halo firing anymore which wouldn't make sense for the chief to come back because his job is done. I'd understand maybe like if they made a completely new series involving the future but otherwise it wouldn't make sense to have master chief do another thing when he's done absolutely almost everything. 3.Whats wrong with prequals? the only thing we know about the past in halo history is the books. This is a whole new way to show the halo universe. And yes Halo Reach is going to be an FPS which I hate why people judge halo games on this is because, halo infact was supposed to be an RTS. Oh and also, we have absolutely no info on Halo reach so we don't know if master chief is in there or not.

your just saying halo wars is good because it is a halo game. SHYTTY GAME

Console gamers just don't have the patience and skill to enjoy a strategy game I guess, even a simplified one like halo wars.

What a way to stereotype.

Actually that is pretty accurate.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

- Bungie did not make Halo Wars, Ensemble did.
- Halo: Reach has been confirmed to be a FPS
- Prequels help expand the Halo universe, just like sequels do.

Halo 1 should have been from Reach through Halo.

GET OFF MY D*** LAWN

halo wars was fine. if you didnt like its style then you didnt have to buy it...its simple

  • 07.09.2009 9:25 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

well, it makes the story confusing. Why wouldnt you want to add to the story. Why would you want want to add background information.

Because it's still a part of the story. Think of it like this. You have a line. This is the Halo timeline. Instead of lengthening the line, they're making it thicker. Actually, think of it like having a sammich. Instead of making the sammich longer by adding more bread, they're making it thicker, by adding more meat.

Halo Wars was ok. The story was good. I didn't like multiplayer, but that is because I suck at it (see, I admitted it, now you try Mr. OP). Making a prequel does not kill a game, it enhances it. Oh, and FYI: BUNGIE DIDN'T MAKE HALO WARS! DID YOU NOT SEE THE FRONT OF THE BOX? Was Bungie's name on it?: I don't think so.

Halo 3 marked the end of the Human-Covenant War. There really isnt any room to go forward. You may try to argue that by bringing up the Legendary ending, but seriously, who really cares if Master Chief lived or died after hitting that planet?

The prequels offer great backstory. And Halo Wars is, in fact, and amazing game. Not just because it is a Halo game, but because the gameplay actually requires you to think.

ODST is going to totally change the way we play, and it could even improve our Halo 3 gameplay.

And Reach.... Well we dont know much about gameplay, but the Fall of Reach is, in my opinion, one of the best pieces of the story.

well, it makes the story confusing. Why wouldnt you want to add to the story. Why would you want want to add background information.

Because people enjoyed the books and would like to see them come to life in a game?

It's like asking "Why would you want a movie version of a book?! They should just make a movie sequel!".

screw you guys im going.

Amazing. You didn't even make it one page. I guess when people disagree with you, they're just too stupid to talk to.

And yeah, what was Bungie thinking when they made Halo Wars? Someone should fire whoever made that game. PLUS I heard from a friend at Microsoft that Master Chief wasn't even going to be in Halo 3 ODST. Which is stupid, because there is we can't play a Halo game that is slightly different from the others.

Why would they want to make prequels to expand on Halo's storyline! It's not like there are books or fans who care about the storyline. We only play multiplayer.

Bungie should just, not even include campaign anymore, seriously.

And if you disagree with me I'm going to throw a tantrum and leave the thread.

And, for good measure.

/sarcasm.

You're either first or you're last.

You'll never amount to anything, go back under your bridge.

I see nothing wrong with expanding a storyline that I very much enjoy. However, I will admit that Halo Wars isn't as exciting as I had expected. Online matches are really quite the struggle to focus, let alone stay awake, during.

  • 07.10.2009 12:27 AM PDT

I am of an open mind and I am willing to hear criticism. Also: That's stupid and you're stupid.

Not even close, I enjoy every strategy game. I still enjoy Halo Wars, Command & Conquer, End War, etc...

To be even remotely accurate he would need to say, "Most console gamers..."

BYAHHHH!

Master chief can still be in Reach, reach is the spartan training facility so chief is still there although the only reason he was able to escape the glassing was on the pillar of autumn so maybe bungie throws in a glimpse of a young chief. Seeing the stories of other spartans will still be fun.

Also be informed before you purchase, Halo Wars was targeted more for 360 players who enjoy rts's the fact that is halo is win and makes it unique. (although the story line thing was a cool feature)

and halo wars was carp you know that. Your just saying it was good cuz its a halo game.

To me, I think Halo Wars was pretty good, but I didn't like how they didn't tell the story right.
(Spartan didn't have energy shields back then. O_o)

Hah wow I just now realized that. I think that if they didn't give the Spartans shields all of the people that got onto it from the Halo brand would be like "0mg n0 5hields for mai spartns!!!!!!!11111"

  • 07.10.2009 12:40 AM PDT

I travel into the forums quite alot but only post when i really really really nead to go!

WTF, you are wrong on like all things there.
The way buildings were only able to be built in a certain place was good cause if u could of placed them everywhere it would have made the game a messy piece of crap.
and you cant say it doesnt count as a true rts game and last of all WTF are you on about the cutscenes they were the best out of all the games that came out from then until like a few months ago, all the folding of the shirts and stuff made them really realistic

EDIT: And all you u people saying campaign doesn't matter are stupid, if it wasn't for the campaign of halo 1 all the other halos and probably xbox and other xbox exclusives such as gears of war would not be around today
