Subject: Should Bungie Bring Back Actual Black Armor

To POKEY
I was sharing my experience with the color.
No reasoning behind it.

If it was a color you could choose as default player colors then I would choose Black - blue making it stick out more. but thats what I want my spartan to look like wether I loose more or not.

The only true way to see if lots of people would use it as a color would be to give it. And people might get sick of it after a while.

Could it be a movie?
Just putting it out there. Someone find me some evidence for or against.

Unless you are playing lone slayer variants or juggernaut, how would black give you any sort of advantage? I mean, it would be forced to red or blue in team games.

If you play on teams the detail color stays the same.
I see what you're saying though.

The rubber suit under the armor is black, so I don't see how much of a difference a couple black stripes would make.

Furthermore the human eye does not recognize the absence of color (black) as well as it recognizes color. Unless you are in an area of strong contrast, black is harder to recognize than any other color option available.

I think black looks slick, but it is unfiar in the grand scheme of things.

Exactly. I think it looks amazing, and I've used it every game that it was available, but it's unfair. I'd gladly give up an armor color in favor of more balanced gameplay.

I do agree, however, maybe they can bring back the flashlight and night vision to help identify it more easily.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Yes, but if they do, then everyone would wear it, and then it would be uncool, just like what happend to the Hiyabusha armour in H3

I vote yes, Black is just a legit color, and maybe they should put some subtle blinking lights on the armor in order to bring balance back, or something to the effect of bringing balance while letting us keep this awesome color.

i agree

If any of you have trouble finding a black Spartan/ Elite then you could use black to.
Or the more practical way, get used to looking in the hinding spots the people with balck would use.

Character Artist -- Electronic Arts

So many kids wear Steel anyway.
Black would just be the next Steel.

And seeing as there is a genuine advantage to Black armor, due to the lighting engine, I don't think that Black should be a valid primary armor color

That said, There should be more COlors in general.

Everyone wore it in Halo CE, and it wasn't like it was uncool to use it, it just looks nicer. It has a better advantage in darker areas especially when using stealth. A viable solution to this could be to add flashlights and night vision back to multiplayer to allow for better tracking. Bungie could even throw in more dark levels that actually would require you to use flashlight to navigate your way through.

Yes....I like to camp..

I agree black armour is usefull in darker maps. And honestly...Who doesn't enjoy sneaking up behind someone and punching their lights out? (Not in real life of course XD)

I honestly don't see why people hate black so much. There are not to many maps that I can think of where black would be much of an advantage. Plus if you really like your player in black you wouldn't care if every other player has it to. Just like Hyabusa, the people who don't just want to fit in wear it no matter how over used it is. Everything like Hyabusa and the katana start really popular but the people who want to fit in get tired of it after a while. I expect the same to happen with recon. Black would do the same.

I dont see the logic behind no black armor.... it looks BA put it into the game!!! It's already in custom games whats the big problem!?!

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

No one hates black armor, it is just unbalanced, too hard to see and it gives an advantage.

Make life rue the day it thought it could give EL1TE SUPR3MACY lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

I'd rather have chrome armor. :(

I think white blends in well on avalanche and tan of sandbox. Should those be taken off because of an advantage they have. I do realize that there is black under the primary armor but avalanche has black spots too, and when sniping or going really fast on a warthog the black against white dosen't show to much unless you are specificly looking for it.
How often do you play in teams were black color choice dosen't matter. The only time you get your choosen color is on FFA and most places in that it wouldn't help to be black.

And I apoligize for saying people hate black, that was a little to strong. I ment to say they just don't like it that much compared to others.

  • 07.09.2009 7:30 PM PDT

If not Black armor then what about a Black Visor.
Would that have an advantage?

If a player wearing black armor has a slight advantage over other players that aren't wearing black armor, then no, it shouldn't be brought back. If it doesn't provide an advantage, then hopefully we will see it again.

If you gonna keep bringing up specific instances of blending then you can argue this until the end of time. The fact of the matter remains that in normal circumstance, colors are noticed before black, that is how the brain is wired to interpret signals from the eye. That being said the only place that black armor would be fair is in high contrast, i.e. a bright backround, and how many of those are there in general MM?

I've already said this, but I love the way the Mjolnir looks in black, but that does not make it fair.

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

Oh dang that's alot of support keep it up guys and maybe they'll put it in.

*Sighs* Just to avoid any more arguments, okay, no Black Primary Colour. But Black Secondary, Detail and Emblem colour is a must have.
