I want a M16 w/ silencer, scope and firing modes. Oh wait a second, that combines the sniper, br, and ar, something we have apparently done in the real world, yet not in future fiction.
well first even though the C7(or M16 take your pick) can be silenced, it is a difficult one to silence and use in close quarters(like about have of the silenced fights take place in).
Also though many of these have a scope attached it is generally low powered and used for night operations(i guess that's not bad as far as ODST goes) as the scope is filled with a radioactive gas that can illuminate heat signatures without giving away the user through EM detection or light.
Even though the C7(M16) has single shot, 3 shot and Fully auto firing modes, there is no way that a .303 full metal jacket NATO standard issue round, has anywhere near the power or range of a balanced, finned, semi-glider, .50 cal long range round that is used in the H3 sniper.
Finally the AR is used as a fully auto spray and pray weapon that uses .303 CASELESS rounds for lighter carry weight, as well as having a bull-pup design(as is the BR) the bull pup design makes the AR a highly accurate(more accurate than the C7/M16) and effective in close range. The BR is closest to the function of a functional C7/M16 which is generally fired in a 3 round burst for greater accuracy, but 3 rounds to increase the chance of hitting the target.
they are all very different weapons each firing a different form of round. but at the base of it all, the BR, AR and sniper are separated to give distinct advantages and disadvantages to each weapon, to enhance game play, rather than having the same features to each gun(ghost recon?)
