Subject: How weapons should play in Halo: Reach

Many people argue the BR is the most powerful weapon in Halo 3. It is the starting weapon in half the games we play and can be found almost anywhere on a map. It can dominate in all areas of battle, whether it long range, mid range, or even close range. How good you are in Halo 3 is usually determined by your skill with the BR. This sometimes makes the game repetitive, and sometimes very frustrating.

Seeing as Halo Reach will use completely different game mechanics and is still very far from launch, this is Bungie's chance to perfect their game. The BR, I believe, was designed for countering the sniper because it is very hard to shoot at someone who fires burst shots. However, it became dominate against every weapon. Why would you pick up a Spiker or Plasma Rifle when you can pick off people from a distance? The other player really doesn't have much of a chance to defend himself from halfway across the map.

Every weapon should be a little more unique and actually appeal to me to pick it up. One thing that should really be implemented is making all Plasma weapons have a lock on ability, not just an overcharged Plasma Pistol. Many weapons should have an increased range, but not so much that the BR becomes useless. It still should be a powerful weapon, but so should every other weapon that is available to me.

What other suggestion do you guys think should be implemented, or do you think this they should follow the same mechanics as Halo 3?

The BR should be slightly weaker, thats it. I think they should keep the other weapons the same. They need to keep the rock paper scissors aspect. Like a shotgun dominates up close but is terrible long range. The rocket launcheris good medium range but is easy to dodge long range.They should keepeverything except the BR the same.
