As all of us Halo CE fans know, the original Sniper Rifle mustered the ability to see in the "Under Cover of Night", also known as, Night Vision. My point here is since [Master Chief] was able to use Night Vision in Halo CE, why not in Halo:Reach? Or better yet, Thermography(Heat Vision)?

It would be great for night missions.

Thoughts?

I would like thermography on my sniper because it would help you see on night missions and because I could easily see any camouflage elites.

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

"I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence."

Yes, this would be an awesome idea, especially for night missions. If they can have night and heat vision sensors now, why not in the future?

Thermography would make sniping a bit easy in multiplayer. And then there would be the detail oriented people that would ask "well I just rolled in some mud on the banks of Vahalla, yet I still show up on the sniper rifle's scope, did Predator lie to me?" or "Why doesn't the sun light up when I turn on thermal vision?"

There are no multiplayer maps that have dark places that would require night vision as that would kinda impair gameplay a tiny bit.

I think its fine as it is with how you kinda have "night vision" when you look at the screen on the sniper rifle, its a nice touch.

How about a Brute Sniper Rifle?

The brutes by nature are a close ranged people. All of their native weapons are designed for close or melee range. They are huge and strong. I just can't see one patiently waiting for a Spartan with a sniper rifle. Thats more of a jackal or elite type thing.

I have never heard of such a weapon, which makes sense because I have not read any of the books in ages..

What would this weapon look like? Hairy? :)

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

How about it being consistent for once?

I agree. Though, The 'Night' maps would not necessarily be 'dark'. Let's just say the crack of dawn or at dusk so a player without the Sniper Rifle will still contain the ability to see across the map.

Clearly because the desktop uses a 3 prong plug and a laptop uses a 2 prong plug, the microwave will fill your car with tostitos better

I'd like it to shoot faster.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Its fine as is.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

If there was actually a night time multiplayer level that it is dark enough for night vision to be necessary, I'd love it.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

Night and heat vision sounds cool. It would be an evolution from even the Halo 1 Sniper Rifle.

The Brute shot is Mid-Range, not close. :0

Against larget targets like vehicles, perhaps, but infantry? No. It is at a huge disadvantage against the battle rifle when fighting at medium range.

-blam!- the Free World!!!!

Bring back night vision and add heat vsion to see through camo!

  • 07.09.2009 9:36 PM PDT

One does not simply walk into Halo.

How about add another sniper rifle, like the silenced one in Custom Edition, and make it a little less powerful.

One of the best videos ever, don't forget the four-shot!! ;-)

I wouldn't mind if there was a mode similar to the VISR for night missions. I miss the old night vision sniper. Stopped you from shooting marines.

Thermal snipers would be useful in countering Active Camo. That would mean that people could no longer run around in camo carelessly.

And I would also like to see some darker maps that would require the use of night vision or the flashlight.

Night vision, i remember a Level from Halo CE with night vision for a lil bit..., i liked that level. :)

But with straight thermal it would be easy to mistake marines for some covenant.

Exactly. That is what I expect in Halo : Reach.
