thank you * AbeLincoln15 that's exactly what I was about to say.
In general Gears catches more hot headed fans who are just like PS3 fans... there is no point in arguing with them because their too bull headed to take in the fact they may be wrong.
ODST is taking the best first-person shooter series and making the playable characters more like humans with no shields, a health bar, unable to handle the power of duel-wielding powerful weapons, slower run speed, shorter jumps, and I'm sure weaker melee attacks. (even though they should be using their knifes for melee attacks) The game utilizes stealth as your main advantage and also take an exploration side with doing detective work about the whereabouts of your teammates for the first part of the game.
Firefight is just like combining campaign mode with multi-player mode using all of Halo2's scoring and using your own custom character design wile you take on waves after waves of enemies while the Halo3 campaign skulls turn on and off random times making all kinds of trouble forcing you to change your tactics. vehicles are usable as well as I think you can use forge for Firefight. I'm not sure about that last part though I can't imagine why not since that'll increase the replay value and enjoyment ten-fold.
Expect to see me playing ODST nearly 24-7 for a very, VERRRY long time...
