Sgt. Jhonson dies in the mission 'Halo' in Halo 3, but in ODST, the add-on for Halo 3, Sgt. Jhonson is a playable person. Bungie must have not thought this through much.

I'm about to tell you Bungie's official statement on the matter, which is Staff sergeant Avery J. Johnson on appearing in firefight mode

It's a -blam!- video game.

Hey guess what!? I play CoD more than Halo, but I'm not an annoying fanboy. I love CoD more, but I like how involved the Halo Community is...

yeah they did seeing as how Odst is b4 Halo 3, so Johnson therefore was still alive,

Please, read up before posting. ODST is a prequel, and firefight isn't meant to be part of the story anyway. It's multiplayer. Your question is akin to asking why there are so many spartans in matchmaking when Master Chief was supposed to be one of the last ones.

.....There is a story for that, actually.

Your a new Spartan/Elite in training, on all of the maps.

I suppose that means every "Kill" is just a K.O, then, really. So, multiplayer is a training exercise!

I'm pretty sure multiplayer doesn't have backstory. The maps are canonical, but that's it.

If you read carefully, and just look around, the multiplayer does have a very limited story to it. Not much, I admit, but the little bit is there.

Well then I think its pretty amazing that the UNSCDF spend Billions on Guns, Ammo, vehicles, Clean up after training sessions.

Hush. If you’re quiet enough, you can hear it on lips of unborn babes.

Hmm... I never really thought about it like that.

Hey Bob, what are those things jumping across the rooftops like majestic warriors dressed as Spartans with their heads on fire?

Oh, that's just the Bungie ninjas. Mess with them and they'll bring a hammer down on your head that's so big, they have to keep it on Jupiter 'cause it won't fit on Earth.

STUPID question. look at backstory for ODST then post questions...

I can't believe the minds of people on this forum. It seems they can't piece together 2 and 2. The last few months has shown my the level of how many TRUE fans there are and how many are just FPS nerds.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

Multiplayer doesn't need canon, just awesomeness.

I'd have a seizure too if some genetically enhanced freak starting shooting me in the head.

Theory: Johnson awesomeness could not be contained in a single form.
Actual post: A training ground isn't too nonsensical if it takes place after the whole story.(UNSC needs more Spartans, newly allied Sangheili seek strong opponents for meaningful practice).)

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence."

¬_¬ Sigh... And of course, a load of Spartans and Elites fighting for red and blue in the middle of a canyon or desert is also canon.

Can't you people get it through your thick skulls that multiplayer, and that includes Firefight in case you couldn't even work that out, is not canon!

And if you don't know what canon means, look it up, I don't teach pre-schoolers.

And by 'meaningful practice', you mean blowing holes in each other with Spartan lazers and stabbing fellow Elites in the back with an Energy Sword AFTER the war has finished?

The event should fit the story line, not the other way round! Sigh...

You do realize that Halo 3: ODST is played within the time frame of Halo 2 right? The first cutsecene in ODST comes from a cutscene found in Halo 2

I am reularg.

Sgt. Johnson is just a playable character.

  • 07.10.2009 8:47 PM PDT

jumal was here

ODST is set b4 halo 3 so he is still alive, and also even if it was after halo 3, it would still make sense, because we all know that Johnson can't die. he died at least two times in halo: CE, but he was still there for halo 2 and 3

so yes, sgt. johnson is a god

I know Firefight and Multiplayer are not cannon.

But Bungie did give halo's Multiplayer a small backstory.
