Ok, I've seen one to may theories saying that the halo 3 ending ties in with Reach. And here's my argument against it.

So, the battle of Reach, because it is in the past, makes it impossible for the Chief to time travel back to the time of Reach. Why so? Well, let's think about it...

The physics of time travel and it's effects will not allow it. If master chief were to go back in time, and be a part of the fight, anything that he does that is not exactly the same as it was can/will altar the future. Because the future is already defined in the Halo games and books, it is not possible.

I'm sure all of you have seen something similar to this on tv or something where someone goes back in time and does a few things different, and the present time that they came from is different when they return..

The thing that still remains though is what ties the end of Halo 3. From what is know in our real world about time travel, an incident experienced by the Chief when the portal colapsed could very easily cause time travel or travel to another demesion because of the warp in space and time. Etc, etc, skip the science.

So, I'm calling this almost definitive proof. It can't be definitive till Bungie says so, but this is pretty strong.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

Finally, someone with common sense! Time-travel makes no logical sense.

I do not appreciate B.Net Group solicitation. If you ignore this and send me an invitation anyway, I will block communications with you.

While I respect all input on this highly debated topic, I do not understand why people think that their opinion deserves an entirely new thread of its own. These repeats topics are knocking down unique points of discussion to the second page which are quickly lost.

Just respond to the other threads you read. The sooner we have one thread about this topic (and honestly, we do which is clearly in the Top Forum Topics list), the sooner we can stop going over the same stupid discussion points time and time again.

NO!
Halo 3s ending IS NOT REACH!

REACH WAS GLASSED, Which in the books says everything was burnt and destroyed leaving nothing but a Glass looking finish across the planet.

The planet at the end of Halo 3 look like it already had a civilization on it.

Could be another Human populated colony but im pretty sure Earth is the only MAJOR colony left (except for some UNSC outposts across the galaxy ).

I think its more logical to assume its either an outpost or another home world to the next enemy in the Halo Universe.

BUT REACH IT IS NOT!

Plus, isn't it possible this world could only be a shield planet? Since the ark was fired prematurly maybe it activated the sheild world?

HALF of Reach was glassed, the other half is still all good. Compare a picture of the Legendary planet to a picture of Reach, they have the same apparently artificial markings.

go to my youtube page

That isnt necessarily true, take lost for example. They have a time travel system set up so that any actions taken by a character that goes back in time cant change the future, however anything that happens in the future happened because of what happened in the past based on actions taken by the character, Basically if he doesn't go back in time, then that is what changes the future, if he doesnt go back and perform the actions that he is required to do to enable the future to happen, then there is no future. A bit complicated, but i really hope that bungie uses the idea.

This apple is brown, and rotten. This orange on the other hand, is in relatively average shape. So the orange is definitely the preferable option.
----------You can't compare apples and oranges. You're so dumb.

Listen to this person. Im pretty sure what he is saying, is closer to reality then what people think.

The planet chief crash lands on can be seen throughout Halo 3 numberous times. The first time I noticed it, was when I was playing the last mission, on Halo 3. I noticed something in the skybox, in the center of the Ark. It was round like a planet.

I had no clue what it was, I was intrigued but I sort of just let it go. When I played through legendary a month later, it didn't click that the planet in the legendary ending could be the same as the mysterious planet in the skybox. About a year ago, while playing through Halo 3 again I noticed the planet can be seen in the mission the Ark. When Guilty Spark is viewing the map. In this scene, Guilty Spark notes that Truth is hidng behind a shield wall that covers the center of the Ark.

Saying, "Unfortunete the meddler has trigged a barrier. A defensive perimeter around the Arks core (Banshees fly by). The Barrier will be difficult to disable. How odd that my makers would place such a comprehensive defence around a single"

Guilty Spark then focuses his attention at the center of the Ark on the map. Where the planet like object is. Then floats backwards half a foot as if taken back. Then procceeds with, "Oh my". Masterchief asks, "What is it?" , but before he can get an anwser they are interrupted by a Phantom. "Phantom" cries the Arbiter. Guilty Spark is shown staring at the center of the Ark, As if hes unaware of Masterchiefs question, and the presence of the Phantom. Masterchief calls to him, "Spark move". Immediately Guilty snaps into attention, notes the Phantom and flys towards Masterchief. Saying, "We must get pass that barrier or the Meddler will destroy it all" with a new found conviction.

The third time I noticed it, was litterally a couple of days ago. I was playing through Halo 3, with a friend who hasn't had XBL since Halo 2. By the time we got to the mission "The Ark", it was getting kind of late. So we were kind of messing around. Anyways, we were at the section with the Scarab. We moved to the edge of that playspace, where we can see a large waterfall outside of the map. Looking at the skybox, off to the right, I noticed the planet. And more than any other sighting, this time it was abundantly clear this was the legendary ending planet.

It all makes sense. Why the Forerunners never used Onyx. Why it was so important for the Ark to be outside the galaxy. Why Guilty Spark became so protective of the Ark, seemingly out of the blue. More relevant, why such a comprehensive defence was placed at the Arks core.

It seems the prophets might of known more than we thought they did. They said the Great Journey would lead them to the Forerunners final resting place. Well it seems they were right. I think its a beautiful irony. The Covenant fought for nine ages, to activate the Halos, to go on the great journey, and to join the Forerunners. But in the end, it was their greatest foe who would reap the rewards of the harvest they prepared for.

I think the portal may have dropped them into an alternate dimension. Think about it. The portal had one entrance and one exit, thats it. He could only come out in one place, but he could be in a different version of the same place due to the portal collapse. my $.02
