He also said that there are other methods of transportation.

Garbage trucks?

Even better - Space hoppers.

Well, from the demo they showed, it was way bigger than I thought it would be. And you have to assume you'll probably be walking most of the time, and will encounter enemies on every block. So even if it is the size of bohan, it should feel bigger.

big and you dont know if you could go into some houses, storage, buildings, etc

Garbage trucks?

If only. I'd get epic splatters.

IGN prompted Elephants, but the Bungie employee laughed and said once you've played it you'll "know how close that actually was".

Mongoose off of Elephant FTW?

A mongoose was shown in the trailer. Time for some mongoose mowdown.

yeah they said it was the largest playable are they've ever created

so larger than the covenant, larger than the ark, larger than the silent cartographer, larger than the areal level of the arbiter.... i think the cities going to be big.

I want a city that takes roughly an hour to get to one side. I want a longer campaign, and the city is teeming with extra goodies and covenant to keep you busy until you arrive at a destination. If they made it like the entire city of GTA4, I would be content. Tons of easter egg hunting, and huge replayability bonuses. Of course there would be mongoose express routes you can take, but they'd be boring. I want to explore the city for hours and have fun.

Probably smaller than Liberty City, but then again, you don't get vehicles as often so it will likely feel larger

I believe the last level is you trying to escape New Mombasa on a Elephant. The Elephant will only appear once. You will be on a huge Highway with an Elephant on it. You will either drive it or defend yourself while it drives away.

So what if the saxophone is black?
it has better tone the the gold one.
damn straight i play Jazz.

well in the trailer it was 8 hundred and some meters. that same distance in halo 1 took about 10 minutes to cover by Warthog.... not sure why... one kilometer isn't that far...

The city will be so big that we will have to use the new Covenant transport vehicle :P

I am hoping really big like 2 hours of travel from one end to another, but i rather have it smaller with more buildings that you could go into.

The tip of the sword... That's the place I am at.. In the front of the fighting force.

To be completely honest I actually hope it isn't very large. I can't say how large it is even after seeing the videos, but heres hoping its small enough it won't be to overwhelming.

But that's just my opinion. I enjoy smaller settings to learn them quicker. I've played like 200 hours on GTA IV, and if you took away my radar and waypoints I still wouldn't know where the -blam!- i was. For instance, my favorite gta is vice city, largely in part to how manageable its size was.
You do have a map so you don't get lost. I'm guessing just from the fact that they decided to throw that into the game that it's a fairly large city.

  • 07.12.2009 12:12 PM PDT

Bungie did say it was the largest level they gace ever created so I am guessing it is going to be extremely large.

Maybe if it were as big as Assassin's Creed.

  • 07.12.2009 12:15 PM PDT

it has multiple transportation systems so that tells you its pretty big.

  • 07.12.2009 12:18 PM PDT

I bet it's so big that from time to time you'll have to pitch a tent, cook up some flapjacks and have a snooze before continuing on your treck. Pancakes are an ODST's life blood.

Easy for you to say, my town is as big as my county! I'd hate to face enemies and look for things here!

Map of the Halo 2 New Mombasa, with Metropolis higlighted with red and the Wraith urban portion in blue

Hologram from ODST, with the Assault Carrier ~5 kilometers long.

And we are resricted to the island (all ways of exit lost in HGN).

In some interview, one of the Bungie guys pulled up the VISR and showed a snipped of the map. From what I saw it didn't look that big, but then again I didn't have much scale to it.
