First of all, for recap purposes, read this article. Its one of two transmissions that led up to the release of the original teaser trailer. At first i thought it was all just some sort of Hype mechanism. Then, Dare turned out to be a real character and a major one at that.

Take note of one person mentioned in that article, the same name in my title: Kinsler.

Who is he? He is not mentioned elsewhere since that transmission. Hence, I thought he was just some hyping mechanism.

Boy was I wrong.

You know, I feel like an idiot. I've watched each E3 Live Demo at least 10 times each. And I can't believe I missed it.

Now watch this demo over here. It was recorded by Bungie Employee Jason Sussman. It shows off something particularly interesting.

I'm sure we've all seen the "You Loot, I shoot" Wall writing in multiple showings of the E3 demo. But allow me to ask you to focus your attention at a particular wall writing at 8 Minutes 58 Seconds into the video. Read those words.

"Kinzler iz a Thug"

Kinsler, a fairly unknown person from a small mysterious transmission that no one paid much attention to... now suddenly thrust back into the picture with this wall writing. Also, something worth mentioning is that the moment Curtis turned the player to face this writing, he immediately switched off the VISR Mode, making it almost impossible to see what was on the wall.

Who is Kinsler? Apparently, whoever who wrote that on the wall isn't a huge fan of him. Yet, he seems to be of huge importance. The transmission mentions 'Data Corruption'.

Speculation time, Halo Nation!

Edit: Oh and a dear Community member kindly took a screencap of it for us

Edable - Not to be mistaken with Edible, you cannot eat me unless i am in pie form, which only happens once every 371 years

Nice find, i'd completely forgotten about that, or maybe just never really picked up on it.

I screenshotted it so it's easier for people to see

I'm watching you!

I'm geussing he's a very corrupt ODST. Probly the red one on the forum pic, (0ODST on the far right.)

And no, the red guy isn't mickey, they look different. Mickey is peach.

  • 07.12.2009 7:02 AM PDT

Kinsler is an admiral if I'm correct. The one Dare asked to give her a squad.

  • 07.12.2009 7:04 AM PDT

Snakie Purple.

"Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog, Hamdog"-Hamdog.

Twatter

Great find.

Notice how you can see Brain turn to the Employee who was playing and give him a look when he shows "Kinzler is a thug'. I guess we weren't supposed to see it.

No, that is Mickey. You do realise the fire in the banner is casting a red hue upon all of them right? Definitely Mickey.

Kinsler is an Admiral.

The admiral is unnamed as of now. And I doubt an Admiral will be called a Thug by normal city folk.

This article is a stub. You can help by expanding it.
"-put Kinsler on the line?"
-COMM Officer, Tokyo Rules
Kinsler was a Human character mentioned in the "KEEP IT CLEAN" teaser on Bungie.net [1] and was known as a thug by some of the retreating UNSC forces in the New Mombasa as seen written by them on the city's walls [2]. It's possible that he is a member of UNSC Naval Intelligence

It's possible that the writing on the wall is a reference to Lars Bakken, a Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST level designer, as his nickname is Thug.

I found this on halopedia when you search " Kinsler" it gives you some information about him.

Why wouldn't he? People called George Bush a thug, he was a leader. Same with Nixon. So why not an Admiral?

I was thinking more of normal city folk won't know much of the specifics of the Navy Admirals. And if the Admiral mentioned in the other transmission was important, he would have gotten a name like Dare and Kinsler.

if knowledge is power and power corrupts, isn't knowledge therefore dangerous?
Black Tower

How the hell do you people remember all these names from months ago?
I could understand Maddie, but did you go and re-read that article or something.

Find of yours is good find.

Never noticed that.

The fight has been complete.... now get the cookies!

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

Yea. That actually never occurred to me. They actually seem to play an extremely huge part in the story.

_____________________________________________________________ ___________

I was thinking about it today and I think Kinsler may be a Minister/Mayor/Governor of New Mombasa. Either that, or some higher authority that has some say in the way the city is run. I believe he played the UNSC out and sold information to the Covenant, thinking that once the Covenant were done, they will spare his life and let him take control of whatever's left. Hence, Dare knew this and therefore, re-routed a special strike team to the ONI Alpha Site. Whatever information Kinsler was trying to give to the Covenant was there and the Covenant were not going to stop at anything to get those.

Maybe even information pertaining to the Portal to the Ark beneath New Mombasa?

That's another one. But how important is a Chief of Police anyway? Would that be a name that people know?

Fuscy!!

Go to the Bungie News titled "Meet the Squad" and it shows Mickey as the peach ODST not red.
