symbol could be NMPD?

Brilliant. Didn't even think of that. You know what? It probably is exactly that.

Eh, its just that sign, i doubt that the UNSC would deal with something like THAT when they have to think about saving the world? so they get the police to do it, and Staten even said that you link up with some police aswell as marines

Yep and like you said, its no mystery that we are visiting the Police Station. In fact, apparently, if the leaked stuff is anything to go by, we'll be visiting the NMPD Headquarters. Also, I'm willing to bet that SC-140 aka Windward is based off a location of that level.

Why go to the police HQ if they don't play a big part?

Waf-fle n. A Reputation; Your Social Status; Superiority; Advantage; Awesome Points; or a light, crisp, breakfast cake.

I love how you've found this out. First off, well done. Secondly could it not be possible that this 'organization' could just be the backup grid for the city? We have already been introduced to the little green smiley face we know as an AI who runs New Mombasa.

On the otherhand I do like the speculation that it could be some alternate force at work. Perhaps it could do with an organization that will be seen in Halo: Reach, or perhaps the organization has to do with protecting the city (A specialized regiment from the UNSC Core?).

Going back to the landing pads. They look like an excellent FireFight map, well designed. Perhaps they will even make some of the FireFight maps into online multiplayer maps. If they did this I would surely invest.

Nevertheless I can't wait to hear their explanation for the unique signs. Keep me posted if you find anything new!

Well, I now strongly believe that the icon does indeed belong to the NMPD.

Well Sora's name (from Kingdom Hearts) means Sky. Wind comes from the sky. So if you put two and two together you get Sora in ODST. OMG I can now has Keyblade in my Haloz.

That was a joke.

my roflcopter went soisoisoisoisoisoi so much that chuck norris had to shoot it down with a cap gun

I wish I was still legendary.

Man, you really are pumping out theories huh?

I'd say it's either a symbol of NMPD or ONI section one. After all S1 are intel primarily, but also apprently charged with evacuation notices/possibly evacuating and other stuff we know nothing about. This would explain the overall concept art piece better then NMPD; to be fair, I doubt a police department would have a military pelican.

That's a good point too actually. I was thinking more since NMPD and the UNSC are working together, the UNSC may have loaned them some Pelicans for evacuation purposes. Also, besides Dare, who is obviously from ONI S1, the ONI Alpha Site apparently belongs to Section 2. I can't remember where I saw it but I remember seeing it somewhere. So, aside from Dare, it seems S1 has no other part in the story.

I know this thread is quite old now but i noticed something in the new ViDoc and instantly thought of this thread...at 3:14 pause the video and you should notice the Eagle picture but this time with the words "New Mombasa Police Department" written around it...Definitive proof that it is, in fact, the symbol of the NMPD
