Subject: Halo 1 and 2 causes RROD?

somone told me yesterday on halo 3 that playing halo combat evolved and halo 2 for original xbox on your xbox 360 causes a red ring of death issue. Is this true? because i was thinking of buying halo 2 just to play it on my 360.

It's not true. There's actually even a bigger chance of getting a RROD by playing Halo 3, but it's still very uncommon. Don't worry, you can play Halo 2 on your 360 perfectly fine without any trouble.

I did not know I could have a signature.

Playing a certain game has nothing to do with getting RROD. I highly suggest you pick up Halo 2, I enjoy it much more than Halo 3 :P

Both are great games, and neither one of them causes RRoD. Some people do have some issues with playing Halo 2 online, but they are usually a simple fix. Most of the time they can't play it because they are missing maps or something like that.

Not true. Halo 3 is more likely to cause RROD because it requires more power, thus creating more heat.

Load H2 and go online through the H2 menu. You will eventually get to a page that has 'Content Download' in the menu, that is the Map Packs.

And that is when you download them ;)

The circle is now complete.

I've never had any problems with either game. H2 sometimes has ghosting problems though, but is easily fixable.

All map packs are free. I don't remember how big the files are though.

I think all the map packs combined equal to just a little under 600mb.

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

halo 1 and 2 does not cause your 360 to get rrod. only reason why you get rrod is because of faulty/cheap parts that are placed in your xbox 360 by microsoft. iv had 8 rrods out of the 12 times iv sent my xbox 360 in to be repaired all because of faulty/cheap repairs done by microsoft ever since the 360 came out.

I'm pretty sure you might want to relocate your Xbox to a place that allows more ventilation. I've only had RROD 1 time in the 3 years that I have owned mine. And it appears as though I play my Xbox more than you.

I don't think I could possibly agree more.
I have some inside insight that says Microsoft is none too progressive when it comes to their business measures. Got red ringed after treating the thing like a baby and never playing for more than 4 hours at a time. Am no tech head, but, I think it's got nothing to do with any particular game. Gave up and got a Jasper. (Knock on silicone)

nah it can happen anytime rly cuz the xbox epically fails in reliability

  • 07.25.2009 11:47 PM PDT
