In light of a recent debate in another post I would like to hear your opinions on the matter
I personally would like to see the combat knife in the assasination graphic but only the assasination graphic. We can keep the hit you in the face with my gun grapic for the beat downs. (Would like to see the return of the pistol whip graphic) anyways vote away, post your opinions, try to be mature and keep it clean bungie is watching.

Edable - Not to be mistaken with Edible, you cannot eat me unless i am in pie form, which only happens once every 371 years

It depends who we play as, if we're spartans again then a knife wouldn'y go through the armour, so no.

The armour in the back is light and who knows what we make knifes out of in the furture or how sharp we make them also there is very few body armour today that can withstand a good stab from a sharp blade

Yes but Spartans have energy shields too.

yea and when you hit them with a blunt surface aka your gun its instant death even through energy shields so reason stands to say a sharp object has more penetration than a blunt object would so the knife would be more practical and lethal

Let there be light, created from fire

I am all i am, i am a team player(when im not pissed), i make great strategies, i will punch you in the face after armor locking, you have to be at sniper distance to not get headshot by my DMR or pistol, wraiths beware, i am DxXOrangesXxD and i am ready to rumble! (When Halo 4 comes out cause Reach is nothing but crap players now)

I dont dont know it may or may not work, making an entirely new movement and graphic scene for just assanation sounds like it would take alot of work

also for it to be a good knife it would have to be (insert special metal alloy here)vibrating knife

no

for a VERY obvious and simple reason :
1 ton indestructible body armor + heavy energy shields > little knife.

Alright. If you were about to fight a guy decked in metal plate armor, you would choose a warhammer, not a sword.

So. No, it wouldn't be more practical and lethal.

I am the Prophet of Tree's
fear me.

its the magic knife. and remember spartans are super strong, if a bullet can hurt a spartan the a spartan stabbing another spartan should do the same

Scott Allen

I've seen too many 'Call of Duty' and other fps suggestions, -blam!- this. People ask for changes then when Halo will lose the feel of it being Halo and seems like some random crappy fps, we will complain.

No knifing please.

No. If you slit someone's throat, they are going to still flail around for a bit before they die. I mean, look at how long it takes for grunts to suffocate, they could easily stick you in that time.

Much simpler to break the spine and paralyze them with a blow from your equipped weapon. Leave the dang knives out of this.

I don't think they really need to use a knife. Spartans can hit so hard that they can crush your skull, MC did it to a Grunt in "The First Strike" if I remember correctly.

They weigh 430 something kilograms, can flip over cars easily, and sprint endlessly without stop.

They can easily break bones. Its why despite the fact that the brute shot has a huge blade on it, melees only do 72 damage compared to the usual 70.

Titanium Armor + Energy Shields > Combat Knife

Not only would it not make sense but it would fill the game with useless animations that will slow down gameplay. No thanks.

  • 07.17.2009 8:28 AM PDT

One does not simply walk into Halo.

No combat knife. A sword however would be a better weapon to use. Unfortunately, it probably wouldn't fit into the gameplay well, so we're fine with what we already have.

A player in MP has a grand total of 115 hit points (to adopt a common term.) 45 of these are body hit points, 70 are shield hit points. For reference, a single AR bullet does 7.5 points of damage, and a BR bullet does 6. A melee attack does 70 for most weapons, with some weapons (notably the Brute weapons) doing 72.

Oh yeah. I see what I just did there.
