It was the game that started Xbox Live's multiplayer phenomenon. The community was so chill back then (unlike Halo 3's). It was generally less serious.
i never played halo 2 i dont know what is was like
I think you might want to take a look at this forum's name.
Anyway, I do miss the Halo 2 days. Though I never played it online, I watched videos and played it with friends. Even 1v1s on Coag were better than most things in Halo 3. The weapons were much more balanced and generally better than H3's - just look at the H2 Magnum, the lack of an overpowered spray 'n' pray weapon, a working anti-sniper weapon (Battle Rifle), the list goes on. I think they added too much new stuff to Halo 3 (Equipment, AR, etc.) and made the weapons feel less like weapons.
I still play the game online, and it's still very fun. I usually play SWAT and Snipers, which are practically uncomparable to Halo 3's versions of those playlists. It's hard to describe what made it better online; maybe it was nostalgia. It's still a great online game, and everyone who hasn't tried it yet should give it a chance.
